Nice rifle But your bipod is on backwards

Its actually not mounted on the forearm. I'm working on a mounting system for it now. Flush cups interfering with the rail so till I figure out a better rail mounting set up, it's temporary. It's sitting on the bipod just for the picture. If I turn it around, it will not support the rifle due to the balance being off. I liked how you set your rail up for the LRA bipod you purchased. Gonna try and extend mine beyond the forearm a bit. Just need to think on it before drilling into a new McMillan stock. Without flush cup studs, kinda hard to mount any of my other bipods.

I just built this 20" 300wsm a week or so ago. It's a stretched SS Remington 700 sa with a Bartlein #3 (turned down with a bell left on the end for the 5/8x24 suppressor adapter threads which makes it slightly under a #3 contour from Brux/Krieger/etc), a McMillan edge fill Game Scout, a Jewell trigger, and a VX6 4x24 scope. The suppressor is a TBAC Ultra 9. Less scope it weighs 7lbs 7oz and it's 9lbs 1oz as shown. When I say stretched I mean the mag box is 3.17" or basically like a Wyatt 4" for a long action and it's a staggered feed box. The feed rails need to be brought back slightly to feed better but I ran out of time before I left to hunt Monday night. Loaded rounds are 3.135" OAL. I shot 25 rounds through it initially looking for a node and then loaded 13 of each of 2 loads and took it out to 200yds. I shot 4 of the first load and it shot bad so I went to the next load and it shot just under 1". It was the middle of the day Monday and the mirage was horrible with shifting winds. Then I moved back to 536yds and shot the group in the picture. That means it was the 33rd through 35th rounds through the gun. I did clean the barrel after the first 25 rounds (zero copper BTW). I basically built the rifle for one spot we elk hunt to try and kill more than one elk before they run off or to not blow them totally out of the area if we only shoot one. BTW those are 1" grid lines on the target and there are 3 shots there.

Won't be too difficult to mount the rail but I got the 4" rail rather than there 2" rail. The 4" rail mounts too far back on the forearm not allowing the bipod to mount far enough forward. The 2" rail is the proper rail for mounting a bipod. I'll have to order the shorter rail. It mounts just in front of the flush cup.

Sweet, very similar to mine other than its a single shot. 300s right about 2990 with Rl33 has been shooting well, +.015 and -.010 both shoot. Its given be some 2s and 3s but its a solid 4" gun at 1k. I dont think you can beat them for cold bore shots at that range. They just dont get effected by environmentals like the smaller bores.

More than likely will run this rifle both ways. My 285/300 loads are around 4.0". Definitely not making mag length. The plan for this was shooting ELR. Found a TAC 338 inletted stock for M5 bottom metal at a price I couldn't refuse. My plan was a single shot. I can use this platform both ways if I need too. Not sure I'll achieve 2990 but currently getting 2900 with RL33 w/300s. Haven't pushed it as it only has 160 rounds down range.

My rail is about 6" long which allows the bipod to mount far enough forward that it wont dig into my shoulder when carrying the rifle with a sling.
Cant buy my rail anywhere tho because I custom made it for the stock. Cut it from a piece of 12" blank picatinny stock then machined to proper depth with a shoulder on the forearm tip, drilled/counterbored the front mounting hole (rear hole for sling stud was already in the blank rail stock), and bedded the rail to the recess I milled in the forearm.

Yes I know you sent me pics. I like that setup. Stock came with these flush cups. I usually like them on the opposite side of the bolt on the stock so to carry that way. I may just drill two holes, one on each side of the flush cup pocket and be done with it. I'll probably cantilever the rail beyond the forearm as you did.

Do gas guns count? I am about finished re-barreling my feral hog gun, a M14 type. Had to turn the barrel from a blank, what a pain. It is optics only suppressed rifle using a clone Navy SSR scope mount. The scope, not yet shown, is a NF 2.5-10. The first picture shows the SSR front ring, sandwiched between the receiver and barrel, as I check headspace with it. Another picture shows the barreled receiver chucked up between spiders so I can time the Surefire brake/suppressor adapter for their FA762SS can.

The Jet 1024 has a very short spindle.

Will test it in a couple of days. No reloads for ammo, just plain GI M118 LR with the 175 SMKs. I am hoping the barrel would like them, because the bore is super tight, it took a 0.2986 bushing at the breech end 0.02984 at the muzzle.

Finally took the rifle out last weekend. Shot for group just to see how it does with M118 LRs.

It was windy, I just shot 10 rounds for group at 200, I am quite pleased with it. Plenty good for busting feral hogs with FA762SS suppeessor.

Wife and I tend to eat just one deer each year. . Really thinking that in the past 25 years or so I have killed that deer with this rifle each year. Some kills have been out to just under 200 yards. This one was just 105 yards last week. Though I have multiple "fancy and custom" rifles in calibers from the 22's to 375 H&H, including most all points in between, this one right here is my most productive year after year.

Now other rifles get their turn every few years for bucks. I just give the meat away from them or any other doe I might choose to take. This first one is the one for me and this is the #1 rifle. Of course that's because it gets used each year during muzzleloader season. Here's a picture of the best there is. One shot - one kill ... been going on for decades.

My model 700 25-06. I bought it 20 years ago from a fellow I used to hunt with. The original setup was a factory 24" sporter barrel and factory plastic stock scoped with an old leupold vari-x III 6.5-20X40. Upgraded to a timney trigger 6 years ago set at 2.5lbs along with a factory laminated stock with pillars and bedded, then 2 years ago added the 26" krieger 1/10 twist sendero contour barrel and current stock with pillars and bedded, with my hand loads it kills whatever I point it at.

I like the cantilever rail. Problem with mine is, I'll only have one mounting hole if I extend it beyond the fore end that far. It needs to be extended that far with this particular bipod .

Installing a second stud is a piece of cake. Yeah it wont be threaded into an aluminum block, but with a thru hole on the forend for a 10/32 pan head bolt and a counter bore recessed nut mounted in the barrel channel to tighten it down, it will hold up just as good

Follow up on the hog gun. I typically do not pay that much attention to group as much as I do cold bore shots. Took the rifle out again today. Fired one round before noon. Went shot some pistol, then another round at 1500 hours. On the first target shot an X, but when I went to the pistol range, some swell 'ole boy shot up my old target. Put up another one, blacked out the ring numbers easier to see shots in the middle. We have white sheets for backer type to see holes in the black. Shot another X. I should have taken a picture through my spotting scope on the first one like I did on the second.

FYI, I only shoot 200 yards.

The rig is GTG.

Will go back a few more times just to shoot one round before we head out to shoot hogs before Thanksgiving. I will correct off the one shot for another day session if needed. Have to be able to call the shot like we do in high power, so you do not correct off a bad shot. Just as important to know NWZ

One shot every outing was my routine when I hunted deer a lot down those narrow senderos by the border. You have to break the deer's back to collect them on the senderos. I did not like going through those thorny brush infested with rattlers. Yes, I killed countless rattlers down there in the winter.

This is the OFF switch that never fails to drop the deer on their tracks. Lifted the photo from the errornet.
