Let the games begin!

love it...I will live vicariously thru you i guess. Today my long farm went under the plow. I left it alone last year for this year, letting it build up a population, and even loaded all winter working up a 105Amax load, and the farmer decided to plow em under and plant something...much sadness here.

Looks like my second farm may not get mowed. Farmer went organic blah blah etc etc. Que wailing, nashing of teeth.

My third farm was shot hard last year and I nipped the edges early this year....

Looks like my PD hunt may have been the high water mark.

Been soaking my 222 and K hornet and scrubbing for two days...borescope says "keep at it".

That looks like fun shooting, even if it is chip shots. Love the "eyeball" that one is giving you! Plese keep posting, even if it gets my goat!

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Only two today however I was entertained by a pair of Kit Fox. They were at 46 yards and played and sunned for 1/2 hour. First Chuck was at 46 yards and the second 146, both with the 17 Fireball. Twice yesterday I jumped a large Red from the same spot and I found out why today. I shot a Pup today and saw another from the same spot, it was hunting! My Son is already excited for Fox hunting to arrive!

Looks like that one had his mind blown with thoughts of being snerted! :D

No hunting today but my kid and i landed a couple 14-18 inch brown trout on nymphs fished in a nearby riffle

Three today, two pups(no pics) and a Sow. Saw another kit fox at another farm and the hunter again at the same set of holes! It knows the Pups are there and must hunt during daylight for a chance at them. I placed the Sow by them so it fattens up for the fall! 20 total now!image.jpeg

Thanks for the pics and stories, I'm jealous! We see the occasional groundhog here north of Kansas City, but not often enough to go look for them. Scheduled our second prairie dog trip to SD in August, can't wait!

Sooo whens the next story coming out?

Im also missing the other bloke you used to contend with for numbers. Cant remember his name but.

^ If I recall right his username or part of his username was Nomad or something about like that

I enjoyed reading about his groundhog hunting adventures too.

also enjoy reading about the others folks share on here too.

not enough ground hogs around here to get many (if any) chances to shoot them

Sorry for the lapse in posts however my Son graduated from Drexel, Cum Laude no less , and I was diligently working on the "Honey Do List" in preparation for the celebration. Perhaps if I would have stayed on top of it it wouldn't have been so daunting. ☺️
I did make it out yesterday afternoon and finally was able to stretch the legs of my .22-.284 build! Got this one at a laser-ed 900 yards! 14 1/2 MOA from my 200 yard zero with the 80 grain A-Max. Had a steady 3 MPH at my 7 while watching it. I was ready to give it 10 clicks left when it died and was just a light breath on the back of my neck. It was in a good position so I sent it. Could of sworn I heard the hit and it looked like something was laying where I shot but had to drive to verify. It was from the north end of one farm to the south end of the adjacent! Of course when I saw it a big smile overtook my face. Got another chip shot at 117 yards to take me to 25 for the season.
Bill, aka Nomad, hasn't posted in a while. I know some things but am not at liberty to say. Sure do miss his posts and he is a great person and shot!image.jpegimage.jpg

Dang it anyhow Majestic! As soon as I get ahead in numbers, you go and change the rules and shoot one in the next county! Now I have an impossible goal...beat 900 yards and I do not think my K-Hornet is up to the task! ;)

NICE rig, nice photos and great job.

Snert
PS, I miss Nomad too

900yds!!!!! Darn it thats awesome. Good work. My longest kill recently has been about 100m on a rabbit with my CZ 452 22LR.

If your able, my regards to Bill. Tell him his mate from down under hopes hes going well.

8 today! 4 in the afternoon with the .17 Fireball. 2 at 80, one at 156 and one at 232 yards. All standing off my BogPod. 3 were in a Bean field and I backed out to save the area for an old school friend that's been wanting to kill some with his Contender in .17 Remington. This evening started with a 100 yard-er then a 445 and a 525 all with the .22-.284. When walking for confirmation I carried the 788 in .222 and nailed one at 197 off the BogPod. 33 for the season and trailing my pal Snert! Didn't photograph all.image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

A 788??!!! Oh, gun lust!

Just so you have a target in mind, I am at 48...

But 8 in a day is a fine amount to get. I have been housebound with "responsibilities". what a drag! ;) I hate it when I have to act all grown up.

Cooler tomorrow and rain tonight. heading out for some shooting tomorrow! Great work Mr. M!

Made it out tonight and while no long range shots presented themselves I got two off my hit list. The first was at the base of a tree and I've hunted him for over two seasons. He made a mistake tonight by exposing his head from 90 yards away as I was walking in. The .17 Fireball and 25 grain V-Max at 4023 fps made short work of him. I was standing and was able to extend my BogPod for a rest. The second I called John Deere because it's burrow looked like it was dug by a back hoe! Turns out it was Jenny Deere! Once again from 82 yards was no match for the "furball". 35 total now and sucking hind teet to Snert!image.jpegimage.jpeg

An adult Chuck can cost the farmer 2 tons of hay annually. They can also eat 1 acre of soybeans! All my farmers are aware of this and love to see me show up, hell one even tried to pay me! It's a win/win and I also get invited to hunt their properties for Whitetail/Waterfowl/Predators. Saturday mornings they get together at a local restaurant for breakfast and spread my name and number.
I had no idea they were that aggressive towards property,I’m always outta touch of course but NOW I believe I’ll hunt the little buggers

Old thread but brings back memories. I have only hunted two or three times since then. Spent two days in NY last summer and popped about 24 between me and my buddy and my daughter.
