Length of pull

Dick, I use a very short length of pull on my BR rifles. Back in the old days at Dietz's Range at the Bluebonnet Shoot I had a teen agg and a decent lead going into the last group. My first 4 shots were in about a .170. As I pulled the trigger on the last round I got my shoulder into the butt. The bullet dropped down to make it a .911 group. Never again, as I finished in 20th place.
Other than sitting in the bags and the rules, the butt is superfluous.

Exactly. There must be some sort of measurement of the shooters arm length, I would think. Each discipline of shooting would have a different L.O.P. Shotgunning trap and skeet, Prone, benchrest, Palma etc.
I have very short arms, but I have some friends that are very long. Sitting at a bench should have some kind of measurement for the shooters preference.
P.S.- with a yard stick in the middle of my chest, about shoulder height, to the tips of my fingers measures only 24". That is how I used to measure arrows shafts, when I bow hunted.

Oh you wanted one of those.
With your arm by your side, lock your elbow in and bring your forearm up, palm facing up, to about 45 degrees. With the butt rested in the crook of your elbow your finger should be on the trigger.
This is a very , very general assessment but will get most people within an inch of ideal.
