I'm in the market for a good value optic that provides 5 or 6x zoom range. I'm considering either the new Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x50 or the Leupold VX5-HD 3-15x44 or Leupold VX6-HD 2-12x42. It's easy to find information on the VX5/6HD series of optics, but the Amplus 6 line is new as of this year, so I've been struggling to find any good info/reviews. Both companies are obviously well respected in the optics community. I know folks that own the older VX-6 optic and consider them the best optics they own for hunting guns. Leupold seems to have the Firedot technology down, so I consider that a plus in their direction. The Amplus 6 offers a similar option, but I'm not as familiar with it or Leica as a whole.
If anyone has firsthand experience with the Amplus 6 optics and can share any feedback about overall quality, it would be greatly appreciated. It seems like Leica's goal with this line was to offer a more budget-friendly line of optics for folks that can't afford to spend 2k+ on a single optic. Just wondering if they hit the mark and possibly how they stack up against the VX5-HD and VX6-HD.? Other optics I'm considering are the Meopta MeoStar R2.
