Legal question on Barrel markings.

Whats the regulations on shipping one of those old actions for service with no ser no?
I haven’t needed to but I expect Id have to go through the same hoops as I did on the original transfer .
Ive got dozens of post war german Cigarette guns with no ser number . Cigarette guns were a term used by GIs returning from Europe. They traded cigarettes for german mauser rifles that have been made into slim sporters .

I've seen the written with marker. At sell time i suppose that is all that's needed.
Not needed for ownership but to resale write it again.
It stays on there unless you choose to remove it.

As far as I am aware, there are no special regs when shipping or receiving pre-68 firearms that have no serial number.
Log it into my bound book with NVN (no visible number), or NSN (no serial number). Seems like a gunsmith, that operates under an 01 Dealers License, would be compelled by his insurer to mark the chambering on every barrel he installs. 07 Manufacture has their own regs to comply with.

Great point Shortgrass, I forgot how expensive my liability insurance was. I kept it for 20 yrs after my ffl return . I know thats not required but it was recommended by my accountant. I guess its a cover your ass thing .

Most barrel I've owed were not marked. I did have a Pre Fit
Criterion from NSS that had the Cartridge/caliber roll stamped
on it.
