Leg Points question

Ok, So I am really confused about the new F-Class EIC Awards. We were at the Nationals in Lodi last week and they decided that match 1 for the week would be the Leg match. I think they said there were enough to give away 7 positions? I finished 2nd overall in that match and my name wasn't on their list. I thought they went to the top 10% or something??

Could someone who understands the system explain this to me?

Much appreciation would be sent!

Thank you

Leg points, depending on the number of shooters will be awarded by match placement.
Someone that has already "legged" that places/scores higher than you does not count in the process with points passed down to those willing shooters.

By attrition every one could be distinguished.

So by taking second I should be eligible, correct?

Leg/steps are awarded by daily aggregate score not individual matches. If your daily aggregate was second for all shooters (all classifications) then yes you got a step. If you were second for only 1 match, then no you did not.

Incorrect. Any shooter that has already earned a DR award is counted as part of the 10%, therefore you will be competing against established DR individuals and must finish in the top 10%, them included. I believe you may be confusing this with the process towards the DR designation. It takes 4 steps to get DR designation. Only 2 can be won in a given year. 1 step of the 4 must be from the Nationals so it will take a minimum of 2 years to achieve. Since only 2 steps can be awarded a year and 1 needs to be from the Nationals, shooters who win a step early in the year at a State or Regional must declare ineligible for remaining matches if they plan to shoot the Nationals and want to be eligible for the National step. Those matches in which they declare ineligible they will NOT be included in the 10%. Once DR designation is won they are included. Clear as mud.....right:) So actually for those that don't win their DR designations in the first few years it will become very difficult if all DR shooters continue to compete.

Gents,

There is some confusion regarding distinguished badges.

EIC points are awarded for CMP and Military matches towards the historical distinguished rifleman' badge. This badge must be earned with a service rifle through EIC/Leg matches. In this case, the top 10% of non-distinguished are awarded points. Once you reach 30 points with at least one hard leg (gold or silver) then you earn the DR badge.

The NRA Distinguished badge is relatively new for centerfire and is similar. It is made up of Steps (not legs) However, all shooters count and the points must be earned at a prerequisite type of match (regional, state, national).

Depending on who you ask, one is more prestigious than the other. Anyone who's believes the CMPs removing distinguished shooters from the 10% of medal winners makes the badge eventual, should shoot more. Earning either one is not easy and requires time and dedication.

Yeah I think I was defiantly confused about all of it. I was thinking it was 1 match not the daily agg. I was just out of the 10% for that so I'm good now. Thanks everyone for the clarification.
