John Homatas Needs Your Prayers
As the title says… He needs your prayers and thoughts. For those that know him or bought his rifle cases that would say Prone2Success on the labels etc… you know who he is. He’s 71 now he’s still shooting FTR, and he has shot F Open and Palma and Hi Power rifle over the years. If we don’t talk...forum.accurateshooter.com
To everyone that replied to the above thread… I thank you all again!
It’s with a heavy heart though that I say, John passed away this morning around 9 a.m. His daughter Roberta called me to give me the sad news. From his injuries from the car accident, the infection he got etc… his heart was in a weakened state and he couldn’t pull thru and his heart gave out. He pretty much had been in hospital or medical care since the accident back in January.
Only one time since the accident was I able to talk to him but I never thought it would come to this and that I would never talk to him or see him ever again.
I’ll miss our conversations from anything from family to politics or reloading and shooting or the weather outside.
Best wishes my friend and until we can see each other again on the shooting line… safe travels!

Hi everyone,,my name is Michael Schubert. I don't really know anyone on here other than John Homatas, and I am in no way a precision shooter like a lot of the folks here and how John was,, I'm just your everyday sportsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. I am however a close friend of the family,,I have been with Roberta, Johns daughter for a number of years nowand have been close to the process of the last four months. It was extremely hard for the kids ( Roberta, Georgette, and Maranda) and his sisters to hash out all of the logistics in getting John up here to Northern Illinois from Arkansas and the car accident and all the hospitals, care centers and insurance problems involved. I supported them in anyway I could and visited him in the hospital numerous times and it was a very tough process. I met John way back in the mid nineties while he was dating a good friend of mines sister,,I went to Canada fishing with him and the group in his motorhome and enjoyed his sense of humor and his attention to detail on many things,,he was a smart dude and a blast to be around. In the years after ...I lost touch with him,,got married and started a family and business of my own,,John moved on in life and moved south. It wasn't until some 30 years later that I would cross paths with him again after my divorce and ironically me and Roberta coming together. Through that process I was reintroduced to him and heard a lot about him through Roberta and was firsthand involved with his situation with Roberta right down to being a Paul bearer yesterday and laying him to rest yesterday morning in Elmwood Park Illinois. She wants to personally thank each and every one of you for the thoughts and prayers. She is exhausted from everything and now her and the girls process of healing will truly begin. Thank you all for everything..it means a lot to her and the family.John Homatas Needs Your Prayers
