Lee load master 9mm kit

I’m getting to where I’m shooting more and more semi auto pistols. Thats never really been an interest of mine until lately, it’s fun. Anyways I have a Dillon 750 on order but it’s gonna take 6 plus months to get everything in the reloading room to get it operational so I ordered a Lee Load Master Kit until the Dillon gets here. I read a few reviews and watched Gavin’s video on it, seems to a decent job. Anybody have an opinion on the Load Master presses, just curious, it’s already on the way so it won’t change my mind too much if it’s negative but I’d still like to hear any thoughts on the subject.

I’ve been using them on my a Rock Chucker, they do a good job. I especially their like taper crimp die.

I have loaded several thousand .44 Mag, .45 ACP and .45 Colt cartridges on my Loadmaster and Lee dies with no problems at all. I admit I wasn't impressed with it until they re-designed the priming system and eliminated flipped primers and jams. I added the adjustable powder measure plate to the measure rather than messing with the irritation of finding the right disc plates for each cartridge and powder weight. I also have all of my dies set up in their own die heads for quick changes rather than having to change the dies for each cartridge. Since the .45 Colt and .44 Mag use the same shell plate, I only need two plates right now.

I ordered one of the shell plates from Mikes reloading that Varget mentioned. I’ll probably end up with three, 9mm, 45 colt and 223. If I like enough I May keep it even when the Dillon shows, nothing wrong with having two and the price makes it doable. the Upgrades you mention seem to have made it a better unit than it was, I haven’t heard of the adjustable powder measure plate, I’ll check it out. Thanks for the input to all of you!

LEE PRECISION 90792, Auto Disk, Adjustable Powder Charge bar

Available on Amazon. Slides right into the slot on the Auto-Disc measures. Also remember that even with jacketed bullets, cartridges for any cartridge benefit from crimping after the bullet is seated. I adjust my seating dies to only seat to the proper depth, not crimp, and then crimp with a Lee Factory Crimp Die in my last station. The same could be done with a proper spare seating die of any brand in that last station and set to crimp with the seating stem removed.

And a correction to my original post...that should read .44 Mag and .45 Colt share shell-plate size. .45 ACP is different. Sorry!

Thank you again, got one inbound. Much appreciated. I have been using the Lee Taper crimp die on my 9mm, it’s been a great tool!

Beautiful pic of that pistol by your forum name! I have three Gen I Vaqueros I’ve become very fond of over the years.

Thanks. That started life as a 7 1/2" Ruger .45 Colt that had spent seven years in a leather holster on a salt-water boat. Corroded and pitted, the bore and chambers were still good. Got it for $25. Replaced the frame and ejector housing with steel, filed down the pits and re-polished, cut the barrel to 4.5", fitted an oversize cylinder pin, Tru-Ivory grip panels and etc. Obviously I was bored! Probably have more in it for parts than a new one would have cost, but it was a fun project.

Even better, it has a great story behind it. Very nice!
