Lee collet Die?

I keep reading about how much some people like their Collet dies and am thinking about trying one myself. My question is will it work right in my Redding Big Boss 2 press? I keep reading about cam over on the press and am not sue if this press does that or not? So does anyone here use a Collet die in a Big Boss 2 press? Are they worth the Hype I keep hearing?

I am new to all this and was thinking I might try this and a redding body die and either a Redding, Forster or Wilson bullet seater. I will use this setup until I rebarrel my rifle and then I will probably buy my own reamer to have my barrels done with and buy some custom dies.

Thanks

I use them in every caliber now. At first I always used my lee press that doesn't cam over with those dies. I now use my Rockchuker and get more consistent results caming over with them.

TrxR, I don't have a boss 2 so can't help there. I use numerous LCD's with excellent results. However, beware that the collets have a longer learning curve as compared to standard dies. #2, Lee's factory finishing can leave much to be desired. You may need to do some custom polishing of the LCD components to achieve best results. I generally use LCD's, body die, & micro seater. There are several guys here that can help walk you through the details if you take this route. Also keep in mind that LCD's work best for no-turn necks.

These have served me well in every chambering I shoot that Lee makes.

They are a mechanical die you will need to be able to apply force to the die once the shellholder hits the base of the die. I do not use a Redding press but would assume you can turn the die low enough that the shellholder will hit the base of the die long before the press lever gets to the cam portion.

You must be able to apply a force to the die to make it function (squeeze the collet against the case/mandrel).

Once you get that figured out, it is a no brainer die.

Love them... and you will really appreciate feeling the sizing of the brass occurring.

Gotcha...Wonder if you would share on how you polish or improve on the rough factory collet finish for us a little.
Thanks

22BRguy, bigedp51 posted some pics recently showing his polishing ideas. I'll try to find the post to refer you to.

O.K., found it. This forum, Pg. 38, post by oneholeaddict Re: Lee collet die set up. Lotsa good info for TrxR also.
