Lee Classic Turret Press not Indexing

Just received a brand new Lee Classic Turret Press and loaded 300 rounds.

Since the beginning I had indexing problems. I could not align all holes at the same time. There was always one of them misaligned and I had to manually index it.

But then at about half that lot it started to sometimes not index at all. Now it almost never indexes.

I checked the square ratchet inside the auto index clamp and it looks ok. The orientation also corresponds to the figure. What am I missing?

Most generally they get rounded of when adjusting the square nut on the indexing rod when your trying to adjust the timing of your turret.
Always make sure the press is at the top or handle down when you make these adjustments

This!
I learned that the hard way in the past.
I haven’t had to change the ratchet now in a decade when I learned that even running heavy powder measures on the turret
Sizing some 223 now on my trusty ole Lee classic turret

Always make all adjustments and manual turret moves with the ram up near the top.

This is what you need to replace, the corners get rounded off and won't index

The ratchet was indeed slightly bent. I was able to "fix" it by holding with a pair of pliers and unbending with another. Now after a few dozen strokes still no fails. Lets see how long it will hold. I already ordered a new one.

Glad I found this. The Lee instructions leave a lot to be desired regarding indexing. I could not get primers to seat. Ready to toss in towel so I set it aside and finished hand priming some cases. Thats when I found the MKE primer crimped cases and that they will not seat without crushing force. Back at it tomorrow. The MKE are range pickups mixed with about every case ever sold. I try to pick up my own but I must have gotten greedy and grabbed about 100 of these. Turkish Mil Surp, primer crimp and appear to have corrosive primers. What a PITA.
