Lee Case Length Gauge for 6mm BR

Which of the lee gauges should I get to grind down to 6mmbr length. I know it has to be a small primer caliber, but don't know what caliber that Lee makes will be the closest. Thanks for you help.

If you want to measure the oal or case length just get a decent dial caliper. I have RCBS and Grizzly and both work fine.

If you want to use the Lee case TRIMMER then get a 243 WSSM version and shorten it.

Ray, Would he not have to turn the decapping pin down to fit in the 6BR primer flash hole? Just asking man. Bill

That is what I was thinking about the pin size on the 243 wssm. I don't have a lathe and don't know how else I would be able to get the pin sized to the small primer size and keep it perfectly centered.

That pin is hard/hard chuck it in a drill and grind it down with sand paper or a coarse stone. it doesn't take much._____treeman P.S. you may have to shorten the body nose of the guage to get it in deep enough!

Ben,
I ordered a custom trim guage from Lee for my 22BR. Sinclair has a nice flash hole reamer for the small diameter flash holes on bench rest cases. Takes the flash hole from .060 to .0625 so the normal primer de-capping pins on sizing dies, neck dies, and lee trimer will fit. The flash holes on my new 22BR cases looked great, however they were not all that straight. That Sinclair reamer straighted them out also. If you trim after neck or case resizing. Ask for .241 dia on the trim gauage. I had to sand my .224 dia down to fit resized cases.

So did you have to ream out your flash holes to use the gauge or did they make one specifically for the small primer holes. It seems there has to be a small primer caliber that Lee makes a gauge for that is close enough in length to do a little cutting on the gauge and get trim length right.

What treeman said. Chuck the trimmer arbor in a drill press or even a hand drill and sand the pin down. I used emery boards that are sold for doing fingernails.

You can then carefully shorten the pin a tiny bit at a time until it cuts the cases to the right length.

I have also thought about drilling and tapping the steel trimmer base and installing a set screw to make the Lee set up adjustable.

Ben,
When I got the Lee Trim Gauage I found that it was a tad to big for the flash holes. I put it in my drill press and sanded the pin down to fit. Then I noticed the reamer in the Sinclair catalog and ordered one. I do not know if they offer one with a small pin.
