Hi gentlemen
Of course I understand some of you will question my sanity, talking about dies that don't even exist...I expect this reaction but nonetheless will try to hold my ground...I and you know that Redding body dies are very good(you know better than I do because I've never had access to Redding dies here in New Caledonia, can't find them anywhere, and with customs taxes of 33% plus shipping, you'd better need them prior to ordering them on the web and be prepared to pay the bill;but then since getting involved in this here forum(thanks gentlemen for being such nice and helpful people)I discovered that I needed body dies, and a Redding is at least $30 in the US;you all know that a body die is a full length sizer with an oversized neck hole that will just bump the case shoulder and restore the case body leaving the neck untouched;so this got me thinking,if I take my Lee sizers to a machinist who will cut off the upper part(threaded part for the decapping stem)and make sure I use a 270 die for 25/06,280 for 270,30/06 for 280,7/08 for 243,308 for 7/08 and there are certainly other combinations,I can get very good body dies for very little money. And from my experience Lee full length sizers are as good as RCBS,Forster or Hornady I think, but they are definitely cheaper(RGB die sets sell for $15).It's just my 2 cents worth of opinion.Another thing, maybe useless but doesn't cost a penny so here I go:those who shoot 7x64 among you and want to use LEE collet die for it but are frisky about the special order cost, order the 280 Rem collet die and once you get it grind off 0.5mm of the collet base on an oil stone( alternate criss cross passes on the stone)and you're all set.Hope it helps.
