Lederer barrels

James has been very good to me and have used him since 2016. I have 5 of his barrels in 308 Win and they are all hammers. I used 3 of them to successfully tryout and make the US FTR team this cycle and will use the best one for the World Championships in 2022.

That said, I asked him about 1 year ago for some more and some 6s and he has been too busy to even respond until I asked him if he was still alive.

He's apparently very very busy. A testament to the quality of his workmanship. But I do miss the times when he was less popular....

Ordered one 3 years ago... Nada. Spoke to him several times to get an ETA. Nada. If it came tomorrow I'd ship it back. Nothing magical about them...

James seems like a very nice guy to talk to and he makes great barrels! Maybe some people can get his barrels, but I can’t. Ordered 2 years ago. Called multiple times after a few months. I was told 2 weeks I dont know how many times. I gave him the benefit doubt for not filling my order too many times! As for me, I am done, done, done! Other manufacturers make great barrels too. All the other manufacturers have done what they said they would do, and dont let me down. And I have bought many barrels from multible manufacturers over the years. I normally dont bad mouth a business, but this circus has been ridiculous. I wish James well, but as far as doing business with him, count me out. Samuel Hall

My last order took 7 months. In my opinion, could probably use a little help with order management and bookkeeping....

I won a Lederer barrel certificate for a 6mm or 30 cal barrel at the 2019 Hawks Ridge thousand yard national in September. I called James up in September and told him that I had won the barrel certificate and since he was nice enough to donate it I would get another barrel and pay for it also. In May of this year I called James up to see when he thought the barrels might be done since I was needing a barrel. He told me he would have my barrels done and shipped within 2 weeks. I never got the barrels so the first of August I called him again and he told me this time he would have my barrels in a week and a half to two weeks. It's almost October now and I still have not got the two barrels. James seems like a nice guy talking to him and probably makes a good barrel but customer service is non-existing. I feel the same as the posters above I'm done. And if he sent the barrels I would ship them back to him. Lots of other good barrel companies out there.

Too bad...they are good barrels...

Another barrel maker who has a fantastic product but if you can't get it and customer service isn't there it doesn't matter how good it is.

Guys, Michael Turner is Lederer's agent. Michael has always handled my orders. michael@crankbalancer.com I met James at the Super Shoot several years ago when he was still at Rock Creek. He was a nice guy. Remember, he is pretty much a one man show. Sounds if he needs a full time front man.

So that's why my build I commissioned almost 2 years ago hasn't been finished... It has to be since I shipped the stock, the trigger, the action, the mounts, and the rings to the smith, and only thing missing was the Lederer barrel. (At least that what I want to believe).

Contact Michael about it Wes.

I don't have a dog in this fight and I have heard nothing but good things about Lederer barrels but this situation reminds me of an old saying- "A promise made with no means or intention to keep is just a lie".

I have very few barrels in stock. What are you looking for?

Well that's understandable but if u tell some one 2 weeks, 2 weeks, 2 weeks and it's months later and nothing ever shows.... Quit telling people 2 weeks and quit taking orders u know u can't fill. It's that easy. He needs an ego check and humble himself and quit promising something he can't deliver.

James is a great guy and he makes phenomenal barrels. I’ve shot 4 600 yard records with them and won 600 yard Shooter of the Year twice so I’ll wait.

Same here, Michael ordered my 12 twist 30 caliber. It didn't take that long. He chambered it 30-30 mated to a Mo Defina action.

I'm with Bart on this. Some things are worth the wait. Here is one story to help understand why I am OK waiting for James' barrels.

While I shoot FTR, my bench rest friends might enjoy this....

After Berger Southwest Nationals this year, we had an internal competition among the USA FTR team members. Among the challenges given to us was a 2 sighter and 10-shot "blind" group at 1000 yds. We had a 7 minute block of time to take two sighters (that were each marked), then take 10 shots without the target being marked that would be scored solely on group size. I took about 3-4 minutes to shoot my group for the "competition." I had three aiming points depending upon flags and tried to take my time but also maintain a rhythm. This was the second best group shot among the 25+ shooters. The paster was my 2nd sighter (and one of my aiming points since it had the spotter in it).

Remember this is off a bipod with a 308....
