Leave it unfired or shoot it.

Over the past year or so I've been putting together a remage 280ai. It's turn out pretty nice. But now I'm rethinking why I need a 280ai as i have a 264 and 6.5 grendel that I load for. Anyway, do I leave unfired or Scope it and see how it shoots.?

264's is heavy 11# . Thought I needed something lighter but thought i might go elk hunting too but sticking to box hunting in s.tx

Don't have dies for it,but did get 60 rounds early on. Think I'll pull a scope off another 700 I have and sight it in. Bought a die but it's not sammi spec.

Nothing in Texas will have a clue if it was shot with a 6.5 or 7mm. I wouldn’t think weight would make a difference shooting from box stand.
But nothing wrong with a few more guns. Just shoot every deer with a different one.

Unless it was built by a very reputable gunsmith, it’s easier to sell if you do the load development and provide pictures of target accuracy. Many lesser known smiths can build extremely accurate rifles but if they don’t have a good well known reputation in the general shooting community, people feel better ‘knowing’ the rifle shoots good rather than buying a new rifle and hoping it shoots good.

I have a Smith up here in Kalispell, MT named Ken Sedon. His smithing business is called “Firearms Machining Services”. He’s not very well known in the general shooting community but he has been a machinist for over 40 years and has chambered barrels that produced amazingly accurate rifles for me over the last 10 years. If I mentioned his name on a new rifle he chambered the barrel on for me and I wanted to sell it probably wouldn’t do much good. But for instance, if I wanted to sell the rifle Ken chambered that consistently puts up groups in the 2” range or less for me at 870 yards then provide those targets in the sales ad as proof of accuracy, I’m sure it would sell quite easily. Of course I would never be stupid enough to sell that rifle! Lol
