Lead free .22 Rimfire Ammo

Within the next few years, the hunters here in California will be forced to use lead free bullets for all their hunting. Although this is completely unjustified, it's the way it is. So, my question is, who besides Winchester is making lead free bullets for the .22 Rimfire. I have heard some not so good reviews on them in the accuracy dept.

Winchester and CCI are the only ones that I know of that make lead free 22lr.

Depending on what you're hunting and the shot distance, I might would look at air rifle. Fun to shoot and easier to find lead free ammo. Less competition for the pellets versus the 22lr these days.

Accuracy and BCs are very poor for lead free air rifle pellets.

Really? I wouldn't have thought that. That's too bad. I figured it could have been a nice alternative.

Unless REALLY in love with the .22 you use, I'd strongly suggest consideration of a .17 hmr, as the Hornady lead-free ammo is very good. That Winchester .22 rimfire lead-free is , while better than nothing, terrible. And don't even think of using it in any auto-loader without safety glasses. Strange sparks and stuff come out when in my Ruger Mark I, Mark II and Mark III pistols - as well as my Ruger 1022. It also has very poor terminal effect on varmints such as ground squirrels. I wish a manufacturer would also come out with unleaded .17 caliber bullets for hand-loading. As it stands, the best options in loaded lead-free seem to be the Hornady NTX for the .17 Hornet - then moving up to a very good assortment of lead-free if willing and able to shoot .223 caliber. I can load 100 rounds of lead-free .223 that is wicked accurate in my .223's that only cost about a third more than the Winchester .22 rim-fire or .17 hmr.
