LC Brass really that much better than Remington?

Accuracy is the load.
While the brass plays into it of course, it's the consistancy or sameness of the brass that makes the load act more consistantly.
In My Humble Opinion, it's a horse apiece. I don't think any domestic 223 brass can truely be called more accurate than another.
What really matters too the loader is how he prepares the brass and handles it in the die(s) during sizing.

That said,
I'm very happy with the 1x Lake City mil brass I use, Yes it takes alot of prep work, but I don't mind. I started years back with new Win brass, went through plenty of mixed range pick up then switched too LC when I made a trade for 600pcs of 1x with all the same year class.
I've always sorted by head stamp and loaded accordingly, can't really say theres any that's "Better" ???

I'd say just make a choice and stick with the same stuff,, You'll get a few jumping in to tell ya Laupa, but unless your goals are Bench Rest 223 shooting and 1000's of shot's a year, that's a lot to spend for field use

Haven't used Remington brass but in my 20 Practical Winchester brass has performed much better than Lake City. Prep work is the same and I had a lot of trouble with the LC so I stick with Win.

IMHO, it's just not possible to get much worse then Remington. I have a couple thousand rounds of new and a couple more of 1X fired LC brass and with out inspecting any of it yet it's appearance is much better then Rem.
the primer holes appear to be in the center of the primer pocket unlike the rem. brass and it has been annealed like the Lapua brass, and it looks fairly thick so you would have plenty of material to turn if wanted, case capacity is probably less but unless your BR shooting long range who cares.

lc brass is really that much better than remington couple of reasons 1.case to case consistence so it has same or near the same capacity better shot to shot accuracy 2. case has thicker brass so it lasts and gets a little higher pressure do to case capacity next to lapua it is one of the best you can get and you can get it fairly cheap

ATK (Federal) has the contract to produce ammunition at the Lake City munitions plant, BUT they still buy the brass from Winchester. Remington had the contract, lost it to Winchester and now Federal is making our military ammunition.

The standards for military cartridge cases are higher than commercial grade cases,(Remington) this includes the specifications for the cartridge brass alloy.

"ATK purchases over 95 percent of its casing brass from the Olin Brass Company in the form of brass case cups and bullet jacket cups. This purchase is a fixed-price, fixed-time agreement. Olin Brass also supplies U.S.-based commercial ammunition manufacturers with brass sheet metal for cartridge casings.18 During the fiscal year 2005 production surge, Olin Brass met the increased demands without causing any disruption of small-arms ammunition production at Lake City"

Bigeddie,
Don't believe everything you read, I work there and know better! anyway as you probably already know Eddie if you lube the lake city brass it will fireform perfectly, this info is for BigEdp51 only!! he is a case lubing fool ;) stay outta his way!

Lapua is great but spendy for the high volume shooter, Norma is hit and miss, Winchester is not bad, Remington is usually the worst, Lake City can be good or bad but I don't like it for my varmint loads. All said, cheapy Remington is just fine if you do a little sorting. Prep your cases, then sort by weight. I happen to have thousands of rounds of Remington factory brass in .223, 22-250, 25/06, after the sorting is done, they shoot just fine. anneal frequently, you'll get decent case life.

So after sorting say a sack of 100 cases you keep maybe 20 that will make grade, I know I started out that way,...what do you do with the 80 pieces of JUNK brass? makes a box of 100 cases pretty expensive doesn't it? Buy Lapua and cry once and out of a box of 100 you will only find part of one row that won't be good enough to compete with! but since this thread isn't about Lapua then LC would definitely get my vote over Remington ;)

Oh by the way welcome to the forum SAGERAT :)

If you are going to shoot for accuracy and/or compete "saving" money by using cheap brass is a false economy. If you form your cases correctly and anneal correctly, resize minimally, Lapua or Noma brass will last so long that you actually save money over the cheap stuff, especially since there are virtually no culls with the better brass. Besides, what is a good match finish worth?
