Lawrence Barrel Problems?

Has anybody had problems getting service or even in touch with Lawrence Rifle Barrels? I ordered a 10 twist 6mm barrel from them at the end of January and sent with the order a check to pay for it. I was told at the time that a 6mm barrel run would be made in a week and that I would have a barrel within a few weeks. Over a month later I was contacted and told that my barrel not ready and so I waited some more. After two months I was contacted and told the barrel was ready to ship but there were some problems with the groove dimensions they were using with Berger VLD bullets. I was not going to be using VLD bullets with the barrel so I said that they should go ahead and ship the barrel to me and I would let them know how it shot.

That was over three weeks ago now and I have since made multiple phone calls and left messages trying to find out what happened to the barrel. I have yet to hear back from anybody at Lawrence Barrels and I am getting a little frustrated since I am out $300 and I still have no barrel to show for my waiting. Since I found their listing under barrel makers on this site, I thought I would ask if anyone knows if something happened with them or has experienced feedback problems like this with them in the past?

I received a call from Shane Lawrence,Jeff Lawrence's son) at Lawrence Rifle Barrels this morning. Apparently Jeff has been seriously ill for the past few weeks and they have not been able to do attend to his barrel business due to the health problems. If anybody else is waiting on barrel orders from Lawrence Barrels that is the reason behind the delay.

I was told that they will be shipping my finished barrel out in the next few days. I hope he gets his health back and is able to return to the business of building excellent barrels.

Yes at the 2003 I.B.S. Nationals I won a lawerance rifle barrel. After a calling lawerance and sending $50.oo to make the barrel 30'' and for tapering I patiently waited for a year and never received the barrel. At the I.B.S. National in 2004 I motioned not receiving the barrel to the officers of the Virginia 1000 yard club and they replaced the lawerance barrel with a Broughton barrel which I received within three weeks after the match. I then proceeded to call Mr Lawerance an tell him I no longer desired to receive his barrel and to ask for a refund of my fifty. didn't receive any response after leaving a message. So I waited a few weeks and called again leaving a message saying I was interested in buying some barrels. Got a call back from Mr Lawerance the next evening.Proceeded to tell him I wanted my fifty refunded he said no problem the check would be in the mail. Lucky i didn't hold my breath because it didn't show up. until I contacted the better business bureau. The check showed up approximately a week later.

sorry for the trouble. I've had health issues off and on. I never was contacted by better business.
