A long time back, it was November and the flounder run was on. The weather was really not cooperating but I went anyway. Thunderstorms in the area. Made the drive, got in the water and made my first cast. Made a nice long cast and was feeling good until about 3 seconds later when I figured out that the line between the rod tip and the water was remaining in the air. Static electricity was not allowing the line to settle. Standing in waist deep water with a carbon fiber lightning rod in your hand makes you pretty uneasy. Probably the shortest fishing trip I have ever been on.
That hit a few heart strings.
