Lathe setup for Contender barrel

I need to thread the muzzle of a 16" Contender barrel. The barrel won't fit through my headstock. I also have a cathead but it's diameter is too small also. This is a new barrel and I can't use the steady rest because of blueing. I would appreciate any ideas any of you might have.

I use a Delren nosed ball bearing center in the muzzle and the breach centered in my six jaw Tru-Adjust.

I have this set and I turned a Delren insert so as to not damage the crown on the barrel.

Turn muzzle and thread!

Hello
Just chucked up an Encore barrel this morning. Had to shorten and recrown. Unfortunatley it was blued and I had to run in the steady rest. I used my four jaw just had the one jaw off set for the lug on the under side of barrel . My steady rest has the rollers and the wear on the bluing was minimal.
You will probably have to use a flat target crown or a ressesed crown because the bores are really out of center of the barrels.
