Lol! You may be on to something! Either way, if the stability is just as good with a lighter rest, then I like the lighter weight. I don't know the dimensions without looking but I think the Lenzi might benefit more from weight than the newer Raptors and Sebs because it doesn't have as big of a footprint as the other two...going by memory.Hey Fellers, I'm just wondering if the "trend setters" are just getting older and need lighter rest.... I bought my Lenzi a little over a year ago, used, from a friend who had a new one coming in. I hadn't used one before I bought the one I have. I was using a Farley I had owned since they first came out and it had the Dave Short mod to it so it worked pretty well. Anyway, I decided to spend some of the Nursing Home's Money and bough the Lenzi. After using the Lenzi for the first time it occurred to me that I didn't even realize I was using it when I was shooting, it was and is that smooth. A much improved piece of kit compared to the old Farley, in my estimation.
It's not just the physical effort in transporting/handling them. If you travel internationally, the extra freighting costs quickly add up. Airlines slug into you for those extra pounds....what is the advantage of cutting weight in the front rest.?
