Large gun safe suggestions?

Not sure how big I need but am thinking 48 or a size smaller. Thanks in advance for any help. PG

This may sound like a cliche, but get something BIGGER than your present, or even projected, needs. I purchase a high quality safe and thought it would be big enough. 2 years latter it was too small. Something will come along with an extra long barrel that needs to be in front and then to get at regularly used guns requires reaching behind or taking guns out to get at the one you want. More scratching occurs in a tight fitting safe.True, you can store the listed capacity of guns in, but to be user friendly extra room is nice.

Deepwater I think I am already leaning that way and the one I have now is small and not good enough. Have anyone ever seen one of these?

Buy as big of one as your house will support. You will fill it in time---trust me.
Another option is to buy a safe door/frame and build a walk-in safe in your home....remembering that you will fill any safe you buy :D

Not mine but you get the idea

I just bought a Fatboy Jr. safe and for the money I think it is hard to beat. It is listed as a 48 gun but there is no way that you will get any where close to 48 scoped long guns in it. Like everyone else said, buy bigger than you think you will need.

Nothing better than a walk-in, but they can be to small as well. I had mine poured in an existing home, so I was limited to where it could go and how large it could be; I knew it was going to be smaller than I wanted even before it was poured. It is still much, MUCH better than a regular safe.

Check Costco on line...big and delivered. Decent price and rotary dial option, if you don't need a truly excellent safe.

Get the bigger one!!! Not only will it be a safe haven for firearms, but jewelry, financial records, passports, family heirlooms, and other things you can not or don't want to replace. Check closely at the fire protection rating.

Built a new house 20 years ago. I designed it arount a basement walk in vault with a Browning vault door and frame. All walls and ceiling are 8" concrete heavily reinforced with steel. It is 8' x 12' inside and now is too small. My wife thinks I have too many guns. I think I have too small of a vault. Can any of you give me an unbiased opinion that I dare repeat to her? Oh by the way I keep one of my partners guns in there so that I can truthfully tell her that they are not all mine. My partner tells me that if I die before he does that he is going to tell my wife that all but one of those guns are his. So called "friends are waiting to see what happens when one of us die. I'll keep you posted unless I die first.

This is almost the exact safe I have (I have the one that is 1 shelf higher), and I thought it was HUGE when I got it. Since I have some guns with 28" barrels, you only have 2 shelves on top (which is perfect to put all your papers, scoped handguns, and small stuff), and then you have all the racks for guns underneath. By the time you put in scoped rifles with big 56mm optics, you will be lucky to get 24 in there. One neat thing to do is get the pistol holder for the door, and that creates a lot of more room on your shelf.

I agree with all of the above, get the biggest and heaviest that you can afford. The 72in tall model is really nice,as you get either an extra shelf or at least a full shelf, after storing rifles with really long barrels. For most of us,this is a longterm investment,so think ahead. Lightman
