Lapua with supressor

All the tuning in the world won't get rid of 8" groups at 200. What suprises me is that groups are horazontal !!

I don't recall seeing a reference to 8" groups. Is this correct, Bill?

What would "six to eight inches of horozontal" mean, exactly?? He didn't have to use the actual word "group" in that sentence, IMO.

It means the shots were walking right with not over 3/4moa vertically. No wind, rifle level, free floated stock, lots of time between shots.

OK..now we are getting into a whole different subject!! The shots are walking right. Is this every time?

Sounds to me like you have a heat induced stress problem in your BBL.

W Boggs I know nothing about a suppressor , but I did have a 300 Jarrett shoot like you are talking about when the muzzle brake came loose. I suspect that Hotrod 6.5 is on the right track. good luck and let us know what you find out

Will do. Out to the range tomorrow with an "expert" in cans/brakes. I shall se how much he knows in the first 10 minutes. Bill

Problem solved. Suppressor not tightened properly against washer. It was too loose and not a tight fit. Groups tightened to 3/4 MOA with factory loads. Some starting handloads with R33, Berger 300s, seated 3.68" were<1/2MOA. Very happy and encouraged, since I can now fine tune the loads.
Thanks to all on the forum that provided input. We truly have the best members.

Warren It did cross my mind but an "expert" had set it up. Decided to start with basics and do it myself.
Note you are a team Savage member. Have a custom 22-6mm Rem on a Savage .308 action that shoots 0.12" at 100 with Norma MRP and Berger 80.5's at 3550 with a mild load. Limit groups to 3 shots because I want the barrel to last for 500 rounds or more.

You are storing your rifle with the suppressor off? I put my suppressor on when I start stalking or am on the firing point and remove when I finish stalking or leave the firing point.

My experiences have been very similar. As a Team Savage member, I am required to shoot stock rifles. My 308 Palma twins and the 223 Palma gun, with F-T/R barrels, are bone stock except for lengthening the throats for longer bullets. All 3 consistently shoot in the 2s off a bipod.

Stupid accurate pretty much sums it up. ;D

Yours sounds pretty tuned up. Anything that shoots in the 1s is a hammer.

Cheers!
Warren
