Lapua should get REAL smart

EVERYTHING built on a .308 case or similarly sized cases should all have a line of small rifle primed cases. I.E. 7-08, .260, .243, etc.. These would primarily, although not necessarily, be favored by competitive shooters. Those you (xkv8r) listed could easily be adapted as well and I believe all would be well received!

Check the Daily Bulletin from last week. It's all there! The demand for 6.5 Creedmore and the popularity which came about when Ruger built their 6.5 Creedmore (plus Savage's model previously) and now sells like wildfire, is what drove Lapua to coming out with that brass. I dare say, that demand IS what drives a company to start making a particular size of brass and unless there is a HUGE demand for it, even Lapua won't spend the money to make a specialized sized brass.

According to Graf's it will begin shipping sometime in the 1st quarter of 2017. Graf's is taking backorders now and I already have 200 on order there.

This all begs the question, why hasn't any AMERICAN company got on board with the small primer in the .308 size cases? I mean small or large primers are priced relatively the same so no loss there on consumables. SMH.

It's simple. Sign the necessary documents with LAPUA, order the minimum number of pieces they require to take on your request, hand them a few hundred thousand dollars and you're on your way

That's simple.

Remington came out with a .308 basic case with the small primer pocket decades ago. Unfortunately, the rest of the world wasn't ready for this innovation and the cases languished in warehouses and in the stockpiles of benchrest shooters.

Rather than waiting out Lapua to make the .22-250 cases with a small primer pocket, neck down your 6x47 cases to take the .224 bullets, get a reamer and get busy. It's named the .22 Satan MKII.

As to the Ultra Mags and the WSM/RSAUM cases, Nosler and Norma have the market for those and Lapua will probably not see the profits as being large enough to make it worthwhile to make that pie smaller. Norma is also marketing their own version of the RUM in the .300, .338 Norma Mags. Yes it has the rim diameter of the .338 Lapua but so what. It's shorter than the Lapua and RUM cases so cartridges can be used in the longer magazines with the bullets seated out further or just run them through the standard long action. It makes a terrific 7mm as well.

We have seen the initial release of new runs of Winchester brass so we're waiting on Remington to ante up now.

I think it's great that Lapua will release the 6.5 Creedmoor but I wouldn't hold my breath for other cartridges just yet.

I doubt LAPUA will deviate from the CIP/SAAMI drawing dimensions. It will be stronger and longer lasting brass with a small primer pocket and small flash hole.

Thicker walls/web will only mean reduced internal capacity...no concerns with O.D.. I shoot .308 Palma converts and expect the new Lapua Creedmoor brass to be essentially just that. I have about 2 grains less water capacity than a Hornady case. I had a 'slow' barrel that had to shoot relatively slow rounds for a 140gr but it shot very well at 600yds(2700-2725 was a node and I could not reach the next node at about 100fps faster with H4350 as I ran out of capacity). I have done some preliminary velocity/pressure tests with Varget in the small primer cases and it looks like at about 96% case fill I can get a little over 2900fps with a Hybrid with slight top hatting of the primer but no correlating signs of pressure. Any faster loads than that one start to get some heavy bolt lift. I think the cases can stand reaching that low 2900fps node with a 140gr without toasting them quickly. I will know more shortly.
