Lapua brass Quality for making 6 x 47 Lapua?

I keep reading that people are finding the case neck thicknesses a mess with Lapua brass, what is going on, I thought Lapua put a lot of effort into there brass?

I don't know, but I found the consistency of the last two boxes of 6.5X47 to be disappointing. Nothing that turning didn't clean up, but it required a far deeper cut than i have ever had to use with any other Lapua brass.

It may be that the company has sumcumed to the pressure, meeting the demand for the product and with intent to keep profets comming in, a little QA got lost in the way.

I just finished turning the necks on 200 cases, lot #4PH6010, and thought "Dang, these seem to be pretty good". Seated some Berger 95gr. VLD's in 10 or so before turning. Maximum neck diameter difference, rotating them in a Mitutoyo .0001 comparator, showed .0004" total. some of them went .0003".
That's pretty close where I come from.
If you try this, be certain the checking device isn't running on a rough case mouth. Either trim it first or measure behind the mouth.

Quality of the neck thickness and the primer pocker depth is poor on the present Lapua 6.5/47 cases. I was most dissapponted with the quality of the last 2 boxes I purchased. Paying the Lapua price I do not expect Remington quality. Strange though that the 220 Russian cases are just as good as always. I would also add that the 223 cases are of poor quality also. Why can one be so good and other so poor?

Those of you that are turning your necks to clean them up, what neck size do you have? Mine is a 293nk, loaded rounds running .291. I'm concerned about turning these and ending up with 5thou of slop in the chamber? I didn't build this rifle to end up with factory tolerances but I'm getting tired of the Jekyl and Hyde personality as I switch from one box of loads to another. I'm tempted to scrap these but want to salvage them if possible and it's not a hunting rig so I's not like I can sit them aside for Deer Season.

You don't need to take a big cut necessarily to get acceptable necks. I'd bet that you won't see any detrimental effect if your loaded round diameter is in the .289" area, and that would be a full cleanup in this case,I hope). Matter of fact, I feel that .002" total clearance is a unnecessary on all but Benchrest rifles.
