Steve here... Other than re reaming the chamber in my vintage Remington. Is there anything I can do to use Lapua brass. The rem brass that came with the rifle is a few thou narrower down at the rim, than the Lapua
Thanks
Steve

If you haven't already bought the Lapua brass, I would just buy Remington 6mmBR brass and neck it down to .22BR since you will have to turn the necks down anyway. If you already have the Lapua brass, I understand that you need to run it through a small base resizing die. Then it is supposed to fit the smaller Remington chamber. I just use the Remington brass myself.

z4lunch,

I have seen the small base die work. The Lapua brass makes the BR's shoot better.

The small base die as noted SB on the RCBS die box instead of FL or NK, sizes the body of the case to a smaller diameter. This is why it will be helpful to you. You can use SB dies for other calibers to use on 6BR as the 6BR case is short enough to allow this. I have a 243SB die, these are made mostly for people who handload autoloaders to help insure proper feeding. Google this as the internet is your friend after all it is the information hiway, Tim.

My first 22BR has the Rem. chamber, that's all there was in the 80's. I'm not sure if the Remington 40X was chambered for BR at the time. Mine was like probably most of them and done as a custom. Reamers were spec'd according to whatever the 'smith wanted and brass was made from Rem 7BR.....there was no Lapua. The difference between 22BR Rem and 22BR Norma chambers is something like .030" neck length. With my brass, Rem. and Lapua both have the same web diameter. Definitely use Lapua brass, it's a whole lot stronger.

Steve here...Picked up a .308 small base die at Cabelas this afternoon.
It works like a dream!!!
Thank you everyone
Steve
