Lapua brass in 223 and 6.5 creedmoor ?

Lapua does indeed make it in either small or large primer configurations. We have both in stock; they're the same price - $400/500 or $775/1000!

Yes indeedy my friend ................ but they only made it in SRP / small flash-hole form at the time I wrote that post. There was an around three year gap between the 2017 introduction of this case by Lapua in only SRP form and the subsequent arrival of the LRP version sometime this year.

I assume that feedback from distributors / dealerships (especially Capstone Precision in the USA) told them that there is a demand for the more 'conventional' form from winter deerstalking/deerhunting 6.5 Creedmoor users.

Not all target shooters like SRP brass either in cases that hold over 40gn as ignition appears to be marginal with some grades of powder. As part of a European orientated review of H4350 replacements (no longer allowed into the EU), I've been carrying out a series of tests in 7mm-08 loaded with the 160gn Sierra TMK for a long-throat F-Class rifle. The new Viht N555 performed very well in Lapua LRP brass, but saw a substantial group and ES/SD deterioration when I tried it in Lapua SRP form (308 Win Lapua Palma necked down and neck-turned).

So, I for one am very pleased to see this excellent brass offered in both forms and I hope you sell lots of both.

I'm relatively new to reloading, but I went with Lapua brass after asking a lot of questions on this forum. I've been very impressed in my 6.5CM, and I bought more for my .223 development. The small primer pocket in the 6.5 was a selling point for me.

I just picked up 200 223’s from Bruno’s to be formed into 223AI cases...Lapua is all I shoot in matches, great stuff IMO.

I have used Lapua and Nosler Premium in .223. Lapua weighs more than Nosler Premium, thus less case capacity. The Nosler Premium is harder (body) than Lapua. Both are good brass.

When I shot XTC High Power I was not particular about which brass I used. I used mainly Winchester and LC. The larger target, 1 MOA X ring, 2MOA 10 ring didn't give me higher scores with any particular brass. When I was shooting F-TR Mid Range with a 223 Rem. I shot significantly higher scores with Lapua than either LC or Win. I have tried Lapua SRP brass in 6.5 Creedmoor and it shoots very good, but I can't say it out performs the Starline brass with LRP's.

Both are very good indeed. With 6.5mm Creedmoor note that Lapua only makes it in small primer / small dia. (1.5mm = 0.059") flash-hole form. Most makes use large primer and the standard 2mm / 0.079" flash-hole and a few such as Peterson offer a choice.

There are pros and cons to the small primer in a cartridge of this size, ............ so as long as you are aware of what you're buying. In any event, you must have the smaller diameter pin for your decapper or sizer die - the standard size will stick in the flash-hole.
Good to know that i would need different decapper, just bought a 6.5 cm, bought brass, large primers, bullets and powder, then noticed the load data specified small primers, wondering if i can use my large primers with the load ?
