Lapua and 6.5 Creedmoor

It surely depends on your chamber dimension? If you are only planning to neck turn for concentricity, then remove the minimum amount to ensure consistent brass thickness. Then, resize your brass to make sure that your FL die will still size adequately and that your neck tension is sufficient,

I don’t turn Lapua case necks now, but some years back I had a 223 bolt gun rebarreled. I didn’t ask for a match chamber, but that’s what I got. I had to turn the necks until I could get the barrel chamber neck opened a bit.

I find 6.5 CM Lapua brass to be very good quality. There is minimal amount of variance in neck wall thickness. I accepted the rationale for redundancy of neck turning as presented above. However recently, for the sake of experiment I turned 20 cases before a SR BR match just to see if this could improve my score. Yep, I won that match. Whether it was me, good weather or neck turning- no idea.

IMO, the brass does not matter to me, I'm turning my necks, I only turning them enough to remove the excess or fat off of neck DIA, so their uniform, I'm shooting a factory Savage rifle, IMO, turning your necks makes a difference with anything you do to your rifle, if accuracy matters to you? I've never seen perfect brass? I have LAPUA, PETERSON, and STARLINE, brass, PETERSON and STARLINE for my 6.5Creedmoor, all of these cases will be turned before I fire the first shot, JMO.

Like @Mark611 I'm an obsessive. Just finished measuring 100 new Lapua 6.5X55 cases, batching and clean-up turning to two slightly different thickness for an F-Class rifle.
