Lapua 6BR Neck Thickness Question

How much variation should I expect in the neck thickness on Lapua's 6BR brass?

I'm having difficulty maintainins consistent neck tension.....

FYI, I'm using Wilson neck sizing die, Wilson seater & Sinclair digital case neck gauge for measuring.

Thank you.

George

George: My older cardboard box measures .013" to .0135". The new blue box is a consistant .012" to .0125", all measuring with a tubing mic.

Is this inconsistent neck tension "felt" by differences in the seating force needed to seat a bullet in a hand die or determined by some other measurement?

What is the case neck gauge showing?

During the first few times firing a new piece of brass the neck tension changes alot until it becomes harder and it eventually reaches a stage of uniformity that some folks like and some folks don't and they put it back to new condition by annealing it and repeating the cycle. Also doing load development by firing hotter loads in some brass than others will cause each piece of brass to behave differently afterwards.

I measured more carefully, and on ten cases the low was .1205 and the high was .1295 for an average of .1246.

The tension is experienced when seating bullets.

I'm using a .267 bushing.....

Any thoughts on where I go from here?

Thanks,

George

I'm no expert, however I don't think Ive ever seen a case neck 1/8" thick. May want to recheck those dimensions.

Yes, 6BR....

I'm working with once fired brass, but have ordered some new cases so I'll have some that I know the status of exactly from the get-go. I bought this from a friend, along with the dies.

The bullets are 107gr SMKs.....

What is the consistance of the bullets that you loading? Are they round? A + B =C. What is the consistance of the neck dia. of the loaded case?
