Lapua 6BR brass dimension

anyone know the head space measurement of current, new, un-fired Lapua 6BR brass measured with the Hornady head space gauge?

Compared with CIP standard chamber?

"Headspace is defined as the distance from the bolt or breech face to a measuring point within the chamber forward of the breech. With rimmed cartridges, such as .22 long rifle, 30-30 or .357 Magnum, the measurement is to the front of the rim cut. Straight- walled rimless cartridges, such as .30 Carbine, 9mm Luger or .45 ACP, are measured to the mouth of the chamber. Rimless bottleneck rounds, like .223 or 30-06, are measured to a point on the shoulder at a certain specified diameter. Belted magnums, .300 Win. Mag., or .375 H&H, are measured to the front of the belt cut, essentially like a rimmed case."

Do you want the length to the datum point on the Case?

My bad. CIP doesn't seem to use datum on shoulder. Look at 6mm BR site and 6mm BR case diagram. I just got a blue box and can measure some dimensions. Don't have anything to measure, although Whidden sends a datum tool with the 6mm BR die, I suppose from the SAAMI Rem 6MM BR.So I could give you that and COAL.

Dang see here:http://www.6mmbr.com/6brfaq.html

The case shoulder datum is 8.88mm. So I have the datum gauge, is this what you need? For your chamber, you'll need some fired cases of course.

i was just looking for someone to use their Hornady tool to measure a new, unfired case in the same way one would measure the case after it is was fired to get brass headspace

thanks

The hornady gauge is a comparator and most likely will vary slightly in dimensions from one to the next. Someone else's measurement will be different from yours.

I get 1.139-1.140 with the .375 comparator insert and 1.160-1.161 with the .350 insert for unfired Lapua Blue box 6BR brass.
