Lapua 308 Palma Brass

Working on a project and was deciding whether to use the Lapua 308 Palma brass with the small primer vs the large primer 308 W Lapua brass.

Has anybody being shooting the new brass since it seems to be in limited supply based on being out of stock at most places?

What are you initial impressions?

Any issues like hang fires that people experienced with the Remington small primer brass produced years ago?

Any comparative data on it improving accuracy?

Post #29 by Dr. Tom Whitaker will explain in general why the small primer pocket Lapua brass came to be. It's no so much for accuracy but more for the consistency of the small rifle primers as opposed to the consistency of large rifle primers. The study posted in German's blog http://riflemansjournal.blogspot.com/2009/06/primers-small-rifle-primer-study.html is also some of the best info on primers you'll ever find. Put it all together and you'll see the reason for the Lapua brass. It's just generally good reading on the brass and may help understand if you haven't read these before.

Arne I don't believe the first retail product has arrived quite yet.

Last I heard it'd be here sometime late this month; expect to see it getting sent out to customers perhaps by mid-June.

Some folks have early test samples, the rest of us are waiting patiently. I'll let you know when my back-order arrives....
