Lapua 22-250 Brass

Grafs is supposed to be getting theirs sometime this month. You can order it now & wait till it comes in. I don't know about any other places. Most places are just saying (out of stock), until they get their first shipment.

I got my first batch 3 weeks ago...looks great.

My first trip to the range this morning.
22-250 with LAPUA brass & IMR8208

First time to the range with the 22-250 Tikka Master Class 595 using new components. (Lapua brass and IMR 8208)
Last night mounted the 8-32 NXS and bore sighted.
Had 5 rounds prepared after fireforming the brass, trimming and primer pocket preparation. CCI BR-2 primers, Berger 52 gr. match flat base 5 thou from rifling.
IMR 8208 powder
1st shot 35.0 gr. (cold barrel) @ 3,609 fps printed low on target
2nd shot 35.2 @ 3,624 fps .176" four shot group
3rd shot 35.4 @ 3,642 fps " " " """""""

Got my hands on 500 pieces of the new Lupua 22-250 Brass. Great brass comes in the new plastic blue boxes. I fireformed 50 22-250 to 22-250 Ackley with great results. Best 22-250 brass I ever used. I will be selling 100 pieces her on 6mmbr.com

Make sure that when you get your Lapua 22/250 brass that you reduce the powder charge one grain and then work back up to your normal loads. The Lapua brass has just slightly less capacity than RemChester brass and will give your higher pressures with the same loads. Velocity will be up as well.

So start a little lower than your normal load and work back up.

midway is not showing an expected in-stock date until late june

I'm not sure if i'll ever bite on lapua brass for my 22-250. at what point can you see gains on a rifle? if it's a bone stock savage VLP would there be any benefit?

It depends...if your looking for the utmost accuracy...I am sure you would notice some MINIMAL gains.

The big deal for the Lapua brass...at least for me...is the amount of firings you can get.

I keep reading that LAPUA brass will give more use longevity becuase it is stronger.
Maybe it's stronger but more importantly and why anyone uses Lapua brass is for the consistency which contributes to best accuracy.
Any brass can be reloaded to last longer then usual if they aren't HOT

Anybody have a case diameter measurement on the Lapua brass just above the extractor groove?

I would be real interested in knowing that diameter too.

I'll try again, does anybody have a measurement on the new Lapua 22-250 brass above the extractor grove?

That diameter is .4680. The neck wall averages ~.014. I have not yet fired any but will measure the case capacity when I do.

A sample of ten cases weighed from 160.78 to 161.22, with a median of 160.94.

I have them from Powder Valley as a result of MLC's tip. 500 were $305.15 with HIS.
