Ok, I have a Rock Creek, Bartlien and Krieger barrels in 6 Dasher..... I noticed that there are two common dimensions for 6mm barrels.....236/.243 and .237/.243.....has anybody done testing to see if one works better than the other ? Figuring 105-109gr Berger bullets being used. I know that each barrel is it's own beast, but just curious if there is tested info out there....Thanks for any data....rsbhunter

What I was looking for was an opinion on the land dimension. I thought that would be the .236 or .237 dimension. I had heard a national class shooter state that the barrels he chambered in one of those dimensions had, repeatedly shot better. Just trying to see if anybody had personal experience with this? No, that's fine...I just come here first, as the info is usually bona fide fact. Alot of the guys here are the top shelf shooters, and willing to share the info and tips that help take alot of us to the next level. I hesitate to search the general web, as it's so easy to find an "expert" . But I will contact some of the truly knowledgeable shooters and see if there are any opinions...Thanks for all the help...rsbhunter
I have found, although never asking myself this exact question. I have found that SOMETIMES a .237 bbl. will love a certain bullet, but not shoot others well, and vice versus.
As @762plinker said, try different bullets and see what it likes. If they don't shoot in one, they probably will shoot in the other

I understand the question you are asking because I asked it myself. I called and talked with Bartlien, Krieger, and Brux on this topic.
Both the.236 and.237 cut rifle barrels will shoot well and both have won countless matches. Yet I wanted to know why certain people prefer one over the other. So I got a slight history lesson that in the beginning there was only the.236. Then as bullets got fatter the .237 was requested and eventually produced.
I have read and talked with people that have shot both and some of them see a slight difference in velocity between the two. I have not done a head to head comparison so I can’t speak to this as gospel.
I do know that all bullets are not created equal as I have measured bullets that are .2426 thru .2438.

I have used both. Only difference I have noticed is I feel .237 has been easier to tune. I have used only 1brand bullet in 6PPC for 24 years. That ends very soon. In the 6 BRX I have only used .237. These last couple hundred are .2434. I never compared velocities as I have little interest.

I had a Rock Creek barrel that was .236 and used Roy Hunter 103g bullets.
Was in a chassis and shot like a bench rifle.
Brux does most of their 6mm barrel in a .236 (they do pretty well)
Like anything else, just tune the load to the barrel and see what it likes.
The .237 is the standard now and can't go wrong. If it doesn't shoot, probably
your fault. lol

THIS IS WHY I use this forum.....I knew the information pool would come through!!! Now , for the rest of the story....I watched a YouTube video where two VERY accomplished shooters and one also being top shelf gunsmith discussed specific details of reloading, shooting and choices for a winning rifle. The gunsmith talked about going to a barrel producer and having 3-4 barrels cut from different lots of barrel stock...we are talking 20' lengths!! If he found , after chambering, and shooting the barrels, that one batch showed great results, he would call the barrel maker and have him make 4or 5 more blanks from that lot # steel. He also said that he found that a .237 bore seemed to consistently shoot better...So , thank you VERY much for the information, and sorry for the long post...rsbhunter
