laminate stock finish question

Hello all,

I have a laminated stock from a vls Remington. I am currently having it inletted for a larger barrel and different bottom metal. I was considering sanding the stock down and putting a oil finish on the wood. Have any of you five this on a laminated stock? If any of you have I wouldlike to see some pictures!

Thanks
Matt

Here's a laminate finished with a Arrow Wood oil finish...
8-10 coats sanded between each coat....

KBS has a product called DIAMOND COAT that is truly great... you have to sand down to at least 2000 grit, maybe more and then polish. It will not flake or chip or crack. A one piece epoxy out of the can.

What type of finish does that leave? Shiny, satin, flat? Sounds interesting.

I looked it up. Glossy is what they offer at this time. Im going for a flat or satin finish. Looks like a awesome finish though. Thanks man!

tommy shurley of shurley bros stock makers advised me to use a product he loves...deft wood finish. one coat or several and when dried and polished, it is nice. tung oil is beautiful but you have to apply multiple coats.

Thanks guys! I decided to give the Fairtrimmers Military Ox a try. The rifle is mainly a field rifle. I'll post a couple pics once i get it done.
