lake city M118LR question,

does anyone know if there is much difference between a batch stamped "07 vs "14. same bullet which i believe is a 175 gr?

it's 308 ammo

thanks for any response

Like any manufactured item there may be minor differences between products made 7 yrs apart. Other than that, as far as I've ever heard they haven't changed powders recently and the bullet is the 175SMK.

Powder changes tend to happen when the contract for the operation of LCAAP changes hands. ATK still has the contract.

i only recently bought the '07s, not sure they were stored all that well, would any degradation to the powder occur?

It can, but not likely. Best thing to do, run it over a MagnetoSpeed and get your SD. In general surplus ammo doesn't have a spectacular SD to begin with.

What kills those stored surplus rounds is if they have been exposed to heat for any length of time during storage. In the 80's when I was stationed in Germany in a field artillery unit we were shooting artillery using 1940's and 50's green and white bag powder charges, but was stored in concrete bunkers covered with earth and kept at a constant temp.

M118LR, Its sealed up pretty good with a Primer sealer and Butle ( Tar) in the necks. SO as long as what has been mentioned above with not sitting in high heat for extended periods... you should be good.
Yes on the 175gr Bullet for both years.

Might have a change in velocity do to the change in powder and charges through out the years as the Army had issues with the M14 EBR rifles and over pressure in Iraq and Asscrackistan.

Just run it across a Chronograph and run with it. Its not a huge deal.
