The LC stands for Lake City, the 06 for year of manufacture.

No, It's not the standard Lake city Nato stamp, I have some too and can't figure it out either,

Left is the L-C-6-0,,,,,Right is Lake City 08 nato

The one on the left is Lake City M193 55gr FMJ ball '09'
One on the right looks to be Lake City M855 62gr FMJ with steel penetrator '08' and NATO stamp.
At least thats how it was explained to me(was never in the military)

does this brass have military crimped in primers? i noticed in the right pic,the primer rim has been reamed out?

The one on the right has been reamed, the one one the left is still crimped.
The only Lake City brass that I have seen that is not crimped is new un-primed or match brass.

it depends on the die. I like the new Hornady dies. but the new dies wont de cap a crimped primer. conveniently, Hornady as well as others, make decapping dies. i personally use a wilson punch set up and will NEVER decap with my dies again. try the punch thing one time and you'll be hooked! OBTW my cheap LEE dies have no problems with crimped gummit brass! ;D

will a std die punch out the primers?

My RCBS will, but I recieved a bunch of LC 08 and got a Lee de-capping die for under $20 I think off e-bay and use that for all my decapping now.
It's faster and no worries about bending the pin,

I have had no trouble at all decapping crimped primers with my new Hornady dies. While decapping, I can't tell the difference between crimped & uncrimped.

huh.... i had trouble getting the hornady FL to decap .308 LC brass and called hornady to find out why and was told that the dies wouldn't decap my crimped brass and that their decapping die would be available soon. this was back in SEP 09. I went to the wilson punch and like it much more, and its faster (for me at least). Maybe hornady inmproved something? I will have to try it again with my new .260 dies i just bought last week. thanks for the heads up.

The only time you will find a crimp on lake city brass is if it has been reloaded by a commercial reloader(1x fired already). If it is truly once fired it should have no crimp as they use military primers which are so tight fitting that they really dont require it. Lake city is fine brass and can still be had at fairly reasonable price's.I have alot of once fired and the ones with the heaviest crimp are pmc, hansons, wcc, and late federal stamp.Just use the lake city and work up your loads from a safe light load and watch for pressure signs.

Stay away from all the crimped military and stick with commercial. It is not worth the extra work that is unless you like all the tedious work of removing the crimp.
