Ladder/nodes function of velocity only ?

I think I know the answer already but is a node a function of mainly velocity, or do other factors have an significant effect? I thinking of changing powders and wondering if I match velocity would the ladder results stay the same? I'll shoot the ladder anyway but I'm still curious if only changing powders (RL17 - H4350) would have an effect.

It does when ive done it! Still gotta work up a load with a new powder. Its not just velocity, its harmonics of every component working together just right

Powders create different harmonics, different burn rates, reactions to primers and so on..You could luck along onto a node, heck it could be a scatter node that shoots great until temps, humidity, elevation changes then go bunkers.. Everything you change needs testing and tuning, same weight bullets require testing and tuning..

When I first got a chronograph, I thought I could duplicate the performance of one powder by matching the MV with a second type of powder. WRONG.

Later, after I purchased Quickload, I thought I could duplicate the performance of one powder by matching the predicted barrel time with a different powder. WRONG AGAIN.

In my experience, you gotta' do a carefully prepared and measured load work-up procedure for each kind of powder.
