LabRadar

I decided to put my Beowulf back in service. I bought a batch of brass spire 404 grain ammo. Mounted a spare scope and headed to the range. I have owned my LabRadar for about 5 years and am familiar with temperament of the chronograph so when it presented error message I rechecked all of the known things to check, so I called the Lab folks. It took a bit of discussion to isolate the issue. The heavy ammo fell into the too slow for Rifle mode. For slower ammo, select pistol.

This info was not published in my documentation 5 years ago. Tired of surprises, Garmin is on the way.

The Garmin requires selecting the velocity range as well. However it's on the start up screen....

- Turn ON
- Select NEW session
- Select Rifle
- Select Velocity Range, 1700-5000 fps or 600-1700 fps
- Select bullet weight or skip
.....and it's ready to go.

They changed the numbers but it is on the first version manual
on top of page ten. I've had mine for 7 years now.

Rifle- 984 fps and up
Handgun- 246 fps to 1722 fps
Archery- 66 to 738 fps

The reports from folks have been correct, the Garmin C1 is much quicker to set up and carry. Several of us had the opportunity to use it yesterday. Since it is so easy to use and small we made one observation and one wish. We wish we could operate it from a keyed device. We believe that as small and light as it is, the wind might blow it over/off the bench. I realize most would not plan a bench day in severe wind. Our wind yesterday at last check was 160@16G22. A weighted bag and Ty-Wrap will negate the wind threat. We all did agree the Garmin is a great improvement over the Lab. I still think I’ll keep the Lab, we can operate 2 benches.

@STORM2 I made a quick and dirty clamp on the bench mount. Clamps to the bench in about 5 seconds. It's an ARCA clamp on top of a mini tripod ball mount bolted to a 1"x2" wood plate. Quick, easy, efficient.
