Labradar Improvements

I am very happy with my Labradar. The advantages are numerous: super accurate data, doesn't affect group size or location, easy to align, don't need a cease-fire to place it, isn't affected by light conditions, can't shoot it. Yes, there are many things that could be improved. But, we are talking about a very effective doppler radar system for $550. No doubt there had to be many engineering compromises made to bring such a sophisticated piece of technology into the consumer price range, mechanical strength being one of them. However, they could double the durability, with a substantial increase in costs, and there would still be people who would manage to break it and blame the instrument. Not sure if I want to pay for that.

The first improvement I would like to see is the maximum measurable velocity increased from its current 3900fps maximum. There are lots of 22-250 (and others) shooters out there that regularly go over 4000fps that the current model can't measure.

Mine had a dead mic in it when I received it. Wouldn't register anything. I called them and they issued an RMA tag. I had it back and it worked perfectly. I've not had any issues since. Then again, I don't use it a lot.

If it had a functional battery in the device, it wouldn’t rely on a shitty mini USB connector for power.
I use a magnetic usb connection. The male end adapter permanently fits in the Labradar usb port - very tight and snug. Then I use the magnetic cable with the external battery. Perfect! The cable can't cause any harm - if you snag it, it just easily pulls away from the magnetic mount. JKL makes a great external trigger for $35. I also bought their magnetic mount for the trigger for $15. So for $54 ($4 shipping) I have never missed a shot with any rifle (mine are all suppressed) and the Labradar usb port is totally functional. If it had an internal battery, how much would you be willing to pay to replace it? How long would you be willing to be without it while you ship it back for battery replacement? What happens when the battery can't hold a charge for a long session? ALL batteries wear out an fail over time. An external battery is a much better option.

A simple solution to this is to use 18650s, internally. It's probably the same cell in all of the external packs that everyone is already using.

All of the work lights in my shop use them. If they stop recharging or have a reduced charge life, I unscrew the cap and swap them. Replacement cells are on Amazon.
