Labradar and SAmsung bluetooth problems

I have no issues with initial connection with an iPhone 7; my BT disconnects randomly during testing. I have to disarm the LR, reconnect to the device and resume the session. I have tried moving the LR behind the muzzle further (no brake), further away laterally an still have issues. I need to try moving the LR further away and use the external mic as the trigger source. Has anyone with these disconnect issues tried this; or has anyone shooting with a suppressor and the ext trigger had these issues?

Yes, I have that issue all the time. it is the achelies heel of this device. Very frustrating since the Labradar is way out there when shooting my 30" barrel and I had to get up from prone to reset the whole affair. I really hope the new software update helps that problem.

I now use the external 3D printed trigger I bought.

This solved the issue. Works perfect now.

Today, I was on the phone with LabRadar and was told that the app new version will be released next month or so. I hope that will solve the problems!

I read somewhere at least part of the problem is with the phones trying to connect with other bluetooth devices it is used with and causing problems with the communication with the LabRadar

That is good for new purchasers. I returned mine to Brownells long ago and doubt I will repurchase. Now I just rely on the target to tell me if a load is working or not. Once I get a load I like I set my Prochrono up to get the velocity for scope dope. Sooner or later I will be getting a Magnetospeed sporter for that. All the data crunching was fun for a bit but when the rubber hits road mostly all I care about is how it shoots and the target itself tells me what I need

Earlier in this thread, I mentioned mine was working with a Samsung Tab A. That was then, this is now. It gives the 'communication error' every time on both tablet and my Note 10+ phone.
The funny thing is my older Verizon tablet which is primitive by comparison to the Tab A, works with Bluetooth on the Labradar just fine. Go figure.

Until it's resolved, I'll just either use the old tablet, or do without any external device. The Labradar works fine otherwise. I will miss the remote triggering, but I'll work around it.

the 2 weak links in the Labradar are the trigger and the blutooth.

I solved the trigger with the aftermarket mic attached to the rifle near the action. that works much better than the labradar by itself.

The lost bluetooth connection is still intermittent. Must be a big problem for the factory to resolve as this problem is known for a long time.

Yeah, I tried it again, using the tablet. It picked up, then dropped it regularly. Not worth the effort. The Piet trigger worked fine once I velcro'd it to the rifle stock.
The gear bands didn't work, perhaps I couldn't get them tight enough.

From here on, I'll just set the thing up on my side of the bench, and arm it manually each time I need it. The SD chip captures each shot. There are times, though, when the LR doesn't pick up a shot. Not sure why, but it might be a setting I have wrong.

In a way, I'm kind of sorry I bought it, I had thought about the Magnetospeed but changed my mind at the last.

Just for kicks, I tried it with my wife's iPad. The same things occurred. It would find the LR, connect, and then drop the signal.
While it was on, you could arm and disarm the LR, but it just will not stay connected.

Manually it is, until Labradar is motivated to upgrade or fix the thing.

Have any of you gone and looked at the ratings for the Labradar app? I've never seen any app get that kind of uniform 1star rating. I ask because I went recently to find out if there was any way to get the app to read in FPS... nope. The only thing I've discovered that the app is good for is keeping the thing armed.

You can't start a new string
You can't get it to read in FPS

I originally gave it a decent rating. Then changed it to 1star...or was it zero.

Seems like the folks at LabRadar tried to help, at least they were responsive. but nothing came of it.

I had problems changing settings too. App isn't intuitive. Changed bullet weight and it doesn't change. Had to keep rechecking. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't.

i emailed labradar about an issue with my note20 and bluetooth
this was thier reply
"
You will need to manually un-pair the LabRadar in your Bluetooth settings.

It seems that some Android products have an issue with Bluetooth Low Energy after a firmware update. Can you try to do a "Reset network settings". (In mobile device Settings -> General Management -> Reset). NOTE: This will cleared your Wifi networks, and Bluetooth pairings but it should solve the problem.

We are in the process of developing a new app which should be out in a couple of months that will resolve this problem if the network reset does not work."

so instead of clearing my phone, i used an old phone (s7), installed the app via wifi, removed all networks, and it worked fine
