L-r primer Wolf/Tula replacement

I'm starting to get low on my Wolf/Tula L-R primers. As they aren't going to be available any longer, I'm wondering what others have found to be a good replacement. In the cartridges I load for, the CCI BR-2 primers give a higher ES than the Wolf primers, but haven't tested any others.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Lloyd

It has been my experience that the Fed 210s are the closest you will get to them. I have found the 210s to be excellent for H4831sc, H1000 (both in cases no larger than a SAUM) and the NEW Alliant powders, RL-16 and RL-23..

I was not aware they were know longer going to be available. What is the cause?

Has anyone tried Remmie? If memory serves me correctly, (which is often doesn't) the Rem. was the next mildest primer when tested by Bob Jensen and Herman Salazar several years ago.

Trade sanctions against Russia imposed during the last Administration that haven’t yet been reversed by the new one.

(And I wouldn’t venture a guess as to when THIS Administration would likely see fit to change anything either....)

I'm down to my last 5,000 and not holding my breath for any political changes in this regard.
Thanks,

Lloyd

Lloyd I understand the recently-arrived Unis Ginex brand are getting good user reports though I have yet to buy/try any of their primers myself. Powder Valley has LRM and 7.62/308 NATO currently but mothing else. Graf’s has their standard LR according to their website.

You try some, let us know how they work!

And enjoy your trip to BSWN in a couple weeks!

PV sells them by the sleeve, but are out of most of the sizes.
Graf's has them in stock also, but only by the 5,000 count.
I'd hate to order that many and have them give me patterns instead of groups!
Will you be at the BSWN?
Thanks,

Lloyd

As an update to this thread, I was running a series of ladder loads while fire-forming new Lapua brass in a 6.5x55 Swede, so I decided to give the Ginex primers a try. I found them to be very hard to seat using an RCBS hand primer.
More so that even the Wolf/Tula primers that I have used successfully for so many years. With that said, I had over a 30% fail to fire on the first trigger pull with the Ginex primers. They all fired on the 2nd try which leads me to believe they weren't seated deep enough in the primer pocket. I am going to re-try them in the near future because 4 of the 11 loads I tried had single digit ES numbers. I find this to be remarkable given the fact that I was trying four different powders and forming new brass.
Has anyone else found them to be hard to seat?
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

I had the same problem with them. Many would mushroom on the top when enough pressure was applied using the Rockchucker press.
Many have said that they had no problem seating them. I bought mine a couple of years ago at PV. Did you buy yours at the same place? Maybe they just had a bad batch. Sure makes me skittish about buying more.

Bought mine in the Bruno's store in Phoenix this year in February. I'm gonna try them in some well used brass just to see if they will fire.

I've had excellent results with Sellier & Bellot large rifle and large rifle magnum primers as a replacement for the Russian caps.

I tried the Unix primers and wasn't terribly pleased with them in my applications.

I did the same thing. A friend gave me some brass that you could seat the primers with your finger, them tap the case on the table and the primer would fall out. The genex primers still wouldn't work. It seemed that they were too long from top to bottom.
I wish you better luck than I had.
