Kudos to Nightforce

I had a horrible experience with them 20 plus years ago. I swore I wouldn't ever get another. Today I have 3, like You said worried about service. Earlier this year,, a buddy had a 30 plus year old Niteforce benchrest scope that crapped out, I told him good luck. He said they were very pleasant on the phone, refurbished his scope no charge! I called them about a 5x25 ATACR that got the objective damage in a wind storm. Sent me a work slip with a price of $250 to replace the lens and go through the scope. Lady I talked to couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. I think they maybe, hopefully are looking at how other optic companies are treating customers. Leastways, I feel better about mine.

Moondog,
Good to know! Thanks for sharing your recent experience, as my friends issues were 10 years ago or so. I will worry a little less and keep twisting the knobs!
Thanks, Paul

I own nothing but Nightforce as well. My experience with their customer service was sterling as well! I dinged a turret cap on one of my 5-25x56 ATACR's pretty badly. It was only cosmetic, but it was pretty scratched. I called them to purchase a new one and they sent me one No Charge! Nightforce is all I own.
To date I have own the following:
3 - 15-55x52's
2 - 5-25x56 ATACR's Enhanced
1 - 7-35x56 ATACR Enhanced
3 - 15-15x56 NXS
And counting...

My info. which may be incorrect, but came from an employe of a competitor in Aussie, is that Nightforce scopes were made at one time by Hakko and later by Light Optical Works, who also make some Trijicon scopes and some others. That does not exclude some scopes being made is the US (?) or numerous other places. I don't think that origin of a scope detracts from quality. March is Japanese, Burris are mainly Philipine made except for top end XTR which is made at Steiner in Colorado. Are all Leupold optics made in the US....and how about US Optics?

There are very few single source optical companies - Swaravski/Kahles (Austria) and IOR (Romania) come to mind.

The Beretta 92, our military’s selected sidearm, is an example of an excellent product that had very strong reasons for a US connection. We know that Beretta, the “500 year old” company, did not create its line or the 92 in Accokeet, Maryland.

If you don’t have a tangible US connection, forget large contracts.

After over 5,000 adjustments of my elevation turret, I found that my ATACR 7-35 started having intermittent tracking issues. I had also overtightened the cap on the windage turret and created a dimple in there somewhere. The turret was locked and the zero could not be reset. I sent it back to NF and told them the issues. Explaining that the windage issue was caused by me. After that much use, I wasn't surprised about the elevation turret.

A week or so after mailing it, I got a call from a tech asking me about the issues. He said he couldn't repeat them but replaced both the windage and elevation assemblies. I received it a couple weeks later at no charge. It works perfectly again.

I have six NF scopes. I have other brands too but always look to but NF when I can.

So it seems we have learned from this thread that they will cheerfully dole out $2 turret covers, but if they have to warrantee out a $2000 scope, you better be ready for a battle. Big surprise huh?

I have 3 of my own. They are all mechanically excellent. Except for the one that THEY sent out in in a DEFECTIVE condition, brand new in the sealed box, and then fought like hell to NOT WARRANTEE the POS. As I said before, no customer should have to finish the quality control on their product, and then have to work for a month to get their screw up fixed. They didn't even bother to cover the cost of shipping the thing back to them.

I think the caps on my night force turrets are somewhere next to the caps for
my whisky bottles ....... Once they come off, there is no reason to put them back on
