Kriger barrel contour 1000BR

Looking for suggestions on a krieger barrel contour. I look at all the numbers and never knew of these endless options as this is my first 1000 yd BR build. I plan on shooting 6mm br with 1:8. Any input for a new guy is much appreciated.

#17 was my instinct....what do you guys mean by dasher, i Know its a type of cartridge you make from firing 6mm brass but is it some type of contour as well? Maybe im way out in woods on this one.

A Dasher shoots like it has eyes…………. LOL, Anything over 28" seems to take away from it…….. jim

You will likely want as heavy a barrel contour as possible just make sure it keeps you below 17lbs. Your gunsmith should be able to assist with this.

Good Shooting

I am pretty sure Krieger calls it a 17#HV taper. Works out perfectly with a BAT MB action, NF scope, and ST-1000 stock. I think I ended up with about 3 oz to spare, and I run 30" with break.

I have a IBM unlimited gun weighs 75# barrel contour is 1.450 straight 31". Its a 300 WHBY mag and it shoots very small groups from 300 yds and on out from there.

I'm having a Dasher built right now with this one.

Bartlein 6mm/.243 5R 1:8 Twist, 28" Finished, 1.250" x 5.000" Straight, Taper to .940" Barrel

There is a good selection of Krieger and Bartlean barrels in the classifieds that savageguy has posted today. Ron

HV contour #17 30" it what i have used for my 6BR, about to start load testing with 105gr berger vld and reloader 15 very soon

CovertGunny, what bullet are you going to shoot. If it is Berger Hybrid you may want to get a little faster twist. There was a good thread going back in the beginning of Sept. about stabilizing the 105 Hybrid using a 1-7.83 - 1-7.5 twist. Also if I was building a new 1000 yard BR rifle it would be chambered in a 6 Dasher, more then likely I'd be hounding Jim Ohara for info.

Ive read a lot about the dasher and im not sure if my skills just learning the ways will do well with the dasher, because it requires a little more knowledge than probably what i have starting out. Yes, berger hybrid, I'll check that thread out thanks for the recommendation.

I second that. Not just because Jim knows what works but because he deserves the hounding. ;)
