Konus Scopes? Any good?

Any of you guys using a Konus Scope? The Spotting Scopes have a lot of good press. What about the rifle scopes?

Don't own one myself, but have thought about buying one. I can relate that a gent I've shot with many a time at range had a couple of Konus Pro scopes on his .222 benchrest rifles. Asked him about Konus one day and he commented, for an inexpensive scope it's pretty good....and other words to the effect that he wouldn't hesitate buying another.

I own many Konus scopes. The konus pro line is a good entry level scope. As long as you keep the power around 20X or less on the 6-24x44 scopes they work excellent. The scopes hold zero well and have worked well for me. They have a lifetime warranty and they honor it. I had one scope that was having trouble with the objective, i sent it back to them and they sent me a brand new scope. For the money you really can't beat a Konus. When you step up into the M30 line of Konus scopes you will really be impressed. I have put the konus M30 side by side with the Nikon Monarch during dusk/ low light conditions and the Konus was the clear winner. Just my 2 cents.

I bought a Celestron which is most likely a rebadged Conus, but I could be wrong. The 45 degree Celestron cost me $133 brand new plus shipping and it works for me. I can see clear enough on good days and at the local range even the $800 Kowas cannot always see the holes. The build quality of the Kowa is much better but optically there is not that much different, even at 600. I figured if I broke this thing I would not cry as long as I would if I broke a Kowa, so I take care of it when I travel.

I paid $299 delivered. I thought it was a great deal. I met a rifle builder that uses the next Konus down. I think he said 6X24 or something like that. He has had it on his test custom rifle (223) for over a year, shooting all kind of loads, and he said it was a great scope for the money. The one I purchased is very clear at from 8 to 32 power.

I shot the Konus for the first time this weekend. 100 and 200 yards. Site-in was a snap after a basic bore site. Very little difference between the bore site and getting on target. At all powers from 8-32 the target was clear as a bell. So clear in fact, my heartbeat was causing the only movement. I shot a Weaver T-36 before and the Konus has much clearer glass. For the $$$$ I am very impressed. Oh! The Blue lighted cross hair works great if one needs it. I would recommend this scope to anyone not wanting to spend a lot of money. There were a half a dozen different scopes on the line that day, and none of them were as clear as the Konus. The only issue was the feel on the 1/8" knob movements, they were difficult to feel and hard to see as compared to the Weaver T-36.

I have a konus 15-45x60. my rifle scope has more power....but for reading conditions and for the price, I really like it. at under $200, I have nothing to complain about. sure, I'd like more power, but the wide view I get is why I have it, and it works great. Some day maybe I'll get a higher end spotter, but within my budget, it is a great spotter
