knobloch prescription glasses for f-class/benchrest

Does anyone here uses this type of prescription shooting glass for these shooting disciplines? Are they only really beneficial for iron sights?

For scope use, would I just use the same prescription level as my normal glasses?

A lot of folks use Knoblocks for shooting high power; I used them for many years and they worked ok however they work best for smallbore. Champions is a similar brand that some folks prefer to the Knoblock brand. Take a look at the Decot brand of shooting glasses, I think they are much better suited for high power and you can get prescription lenses if you need them. I have more experience with iron sights where the focus is on the front sight but have some limited experience with the scope and I can focus the scope and do not need prescription lenses in my shooting glasses and only use them for safety. Most ranges require safety glasses. You may also like to try a little yellow, rose or orange tint; it helps some folks to improve contrast when looking thru the scope.

I have have used Knoblochs since the early 80's, shooting XTC and LR prone. The only down side is the lack of protection in case of a case rupture. For F class shooting I would go with the Decot recommendation by T-REX.

My 2 cents. I've used Knoblochs and DeCot Hy Wyd glasses. I like the DeCot except I can't seem to get adequate stand off from my brow, so I get sweat and oils on the insides of the lenses on the inner, upper, corners which is the area I'm looking through. I've got to figure a better way to get them to stand off from my face.

I do like the easy interchangeability of lenses however.

I had a gun self-destruct while I was wearing Knoblochs. Powder & brass pocked my face. My eyes got gassed pretty bad, but there were no direct hits from high-speed particles. There was a pock mark dead center on the lens.

Shooting glasses provide two functions, eye protection and optical assistance (if needed). The most important function is eye protection. The bulletin article addresses that quite well. Champion, Knobloch and Decot shooting glasses do a wonderful job of providing optical assistance but fail in regard to safety. Decot lenses can be had in polycarbonate material and, as such, are probably adequate protection but the frames are not safety rated so the glasses fail in the eye protection category. Also, if one buys the non-polycarbonate lenses from Decot, then it is likely that the lenses are inadequate from a safety perspective.

I once shot with Decot shooting glasses but stopped using them when the staff at Decot told me their glasses were not z87 safety rated. Whenever shooting, I now use industrial safety glasses, with side shields, provided by my optician. The cost of the industrial safety glasses is the same as an additional pair of street glasses in my normal prescription.

No way for me to be sure, but more area would seems like it would provide more protection. However, the Knobloch's were good enough.
I still wear the same pair with the same lenses.

I shoot in the heat & humidity a lot and sometimes fog up even Knoblochs with anti-fog on them, so I won't be using Decots any time soon.
