The Prince of Dasher is not seen on the Big Stuff--6.5mm, 7mm, 30 Cal thread very often but today he made an appearance at the Dasher Dome up on Top of Rocky Top. He started off with a couple of sighters at 1,000 to check the zero on the Viper SS, Robertson Stocked 284 Win shooting 180gr hybrids, then proceeded on to the 1428 yard berm. We picked out a small rock and after a couple of shots the rock disappeared. Then he shot a Bat SB dual port 6 XC smithed by Tim Claunch of the Memphis Mafia. The 6 XC landed a few 115's very close to the targeted rock.
Then we took a break and Shayne and Richard took a truck tour of the 800 yard range and I took an 18 inch plate to a spot that lazered 1440 yards. Painted white, she was a very visible target. I took the first 3 shots at the plate and when I hit it at 12 noon I handed the 284 off to Richard. He landed a couple of shots just off at 12 and then one just under at 6. Then he hit. I think he missed the next shot and then made 3 consecutive hits.
Not bad for a guy who had never shot past 1,000 yards. Now Richard said he was ready to go the 2,000 yard line at the other location a mile down the road at Rocky Top II. We were running out of daylight, but the wind had went to zero. When we got to the top of the hill the view of the target area two valleys over was perfect. The setting sun highlighted the landscape with a brilliant glow. Perfect visibility. The King took his first few shots at 2 K and got her dialed in and hit a couple of rocks, one making white dust from either bullet disintegration or from rock vaporization. The Ole 284 Black Bird was amazingly close on most every shot.
Richard's smile at the end of the video after seeing the impact splash
