Good point on the scoring system. I only wish I could participate.
I think this is moving rapidly to a certified "Rich Man's Game". The connection to real world equipment is already tenuous. And the rubber band is being stretched farther every day.
At this point, "Growing the sport" is dependent on shooters who will spend $10K+ on a very specialized rifle.
Eighteen months ago I had this notion that a Savage single shot 338 LM and my Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 could compete. Silly me.

IdahoSS, check into the Barrett 99 .416 Single shot bolt action with a 32 inch barrel. I believe this factory gun threatens to win wherever one shows up, which speaks volumes considering the line.
Consider that a good Bipod and picatinny rail cost $650, yet this rifle includes both. That puts just the rifle at about 3,200 towards a “custom” job.
I’m not aware of any custom action with the 50 BMG bolt that won’t cost well over 2k, and a 2.5 inch Bat is over 3k, then you still have the barrel, fitting, stock and trigger/guard to buy.
With the weight limit fluctuations in ELR you will still always be safe. Just like you got a very accurate 2,000 yard gun relative to the money you spent on the .338 LM, this one’s a great deal for the final 1,000 plus yards you need in ELR, and at least a feed people’s choice on the line who also have customs on hand.
