Kimberly Rhode record

I know this is primarily a riflemans forum but I thought that I would mention this as a shooting monument.
I saw where Kimberly Rhodes dominated in Olympic skeet setting a record 99 of 100!!
I don't know that much about shot gunning, but I love to shoot them and know how difficult it is.

The archery boys brought home silver loosing by just one point to Italy who really shot well. 70 meters with a 50lb recurve, just plain awesome to see.

Hats off, GO USA.

If she won a medal she became the first US athlete to win medals in 5 different Olympiads Lets wait and see how much we hear about her on the mainstream media.

Kim Rhode is a great ambassador to the shooting sports. She is a talented shooter and can shoot more than just a shotgun. She and her father use to hunt together. As an American and as a shooter, I thank her for her hard work and dedication to the shooting sports.

Yes, I'm ready to get all over the local (Cleveland, Ohio) TV stations this evening if nothing is mentioned. You can watch the winning performance on www.nbcolympics.com

Story up in Bulletin -- complete with cell-phone pic of Kim with her new Gold medal.

She hit 65 clays in a row.
She tied World Record of 99 out of 100
She shot Clean in the finals -- no misses, with 25 out of 25
She SMASHED previous Olympic record of 93 out of 100
She won by 4 points -- a huge margin at this level of competition.
She has now medaled in FIVE straight Olympics, starting in 1996 as a teenager!

Rock on Kim!

Fantastic achievement for a very dedicated competitor.
I'm pretty sure that release triggers are forbidden in olympic skeet and trap. The skeet loads are very low recoil and release triggers are more useful in heavier loads. Some box bird shooters swear by them.

Congrats to Kim again!

I shot with her at the '96 trial (not that I was anywhere near good with a shotgun - I was more of a hanger-on). At the time she was 16 years old and shooting doubles trap (because women were not allowed to shoot skeet).

What a great story of a great shooter that has fought through all kinds of difficulties (including having to change disciplines - I think twice- because IOC, or whomever decided that women shouldn't shoot one game or another several times in the last 20 years).

I haven't seen Kim or her dad (quite a great man in his own right) since '96. I gave up shooting for a while, then decided I was better suited to rifle shooting (not that I'm any good at that either).

Forget the swimmers, the shooters are great American Olympians!
