Kimber mountain ascent won't shoot

Kimbers are like brownings and coopers- they look good at the store, cost extra money for their reputation among the yeti type people that go for that type stuff but are made for those that value name recognition over actual performance. Its up to the standards of most customers and does just fine for them. The fine print is whatll get you like a test target from 13yds or whatever it is

I'm thinking test target from Cooper was like 50 yards in a tunnel? I did manage to beat there test target at 100 yards ,think I wobbled in close to 3/8ths . I was happy ,nice lite rifle though

In my experience, Kimber has always been a company that touts high quality, charges for high quality, but produces a less than quality product.

Never truer words said! I've seen quite a few Kimber rifles that went back to Kimber. Some more than once. Their service sucks. They won't fix them. Every one of them comes back "in spec". I've worked a few over and put barrels on a few and they shot well after that. A great platform if you can get one really cheap and are willing to re-barrel. Their 1911's are just as bad. The holes aren't on mil spec centers, the parts are soft and garbage. If you get a good one, well great, if you get a bad one well your out of luck. Sure are pretty though....

An old, old saying was “Barrels, Bedding, Bullets”.

Today, with so many great bullets, that part has somewhat gone by the wayside.

But, many a rifle can be fixed with a good barrel and a bedding job. I’d throw a good trigger in there, too.

It sucks to be out the money that a Kimber costs, but perhaps it’ll end up being relatively inexpensive in terms of wisdom.

Wisdom. That stuff is generally very hard to come by.

find an early vintage Remington 700 mountain rifle with their thin barrel. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

I’ve shot quite a few Kimbers that friends have brought me because they couldn’t get them to shoot. Ive never shot one that was as accurate as it should have been for the money spent. For the same money one could buy a Sako which generally shoot well. For a little more money a custom rifle can be built. I don’t buy factory rifles anymore. Haven’t for quite some time.
