KIDD versus Vudoo

I’ve never shot Kidd but I’ll tell you vudoo’s just light up. I had an Annie and loved it but sold it for my vudoo to keep my builds more similar. I miss the Annie but don’t regret my decision one bit

My KIDDs all shoot very well at 50 yards but again I am interested in the Vudoos. Seems like a heck of a rifle.

I just got rid of my Vudoo and 1710 Annie and still have a 1727 and a 10/22 with all Kidd parts. I shot the bolt actions quite a bit and the accuracy was pretty similar among the three. The ammo made more of a difference for me. The Kidd is pretty accurate but not quite as accurate as the bolt guns from my experience but is a lot of fun to shoot.
"The Kidd is pretty accurate but not quite as accurate as the bolt guns" --> agreed

I havent shot a vudoo, nor seen one.. i have a KIDD.

The KIDD is top tier semi auto. Vudoo is top tier bolt action. Its comparing apples to oranges. Pure accuracy/precision wise id bet on the vudoo every time.

Im not overly impressed with KIDD thus far as far as accuracy goes, but it is better than a ruger 10/22. For semi auto its close to as good as it gets. If I wanted to shoot 1 shot rimfire targets, I wouldn't pull the kidd out of the safe. Id go buy a Vudoo.

Moral to the story, buy both.

David, what are you looking to do with the rifle? Still considering br or something else?

Keith

Either will suit you well. I have both. The Vudoos are more accurate and easier to shoot. While I have a bunch of high end 22s in my safe my Vudoos get used a LOT more.

I sure love shooting my KIDD. A fairer pure-accuracy comparison would be a KIDD versus a barreled action that doesn’t weigh 2-3 times as much as the semi automatic.

I have three real nice accurate KIDD rifles but now interested in the Vudoo rifle. How do they compare to KIDD 22s for accuracy?
What kind of groups are you getting with your Kidd's? I have a Supergrade in a Titan stock with Titan's rear anchor. My Kidd will shoot sub moa out to 200 yds. I shot a Vudoo sighting in at a match at 120 yds. it shot about the same as my Kidd. I have a Bergara B14R also It shoots as well as my Kidd and my Tikka T1X. The Bergara is my go to gun now. The Vudoo and other Custom action guns are great guns I wish I have one. I have 2 custom centerfire.

Are you saying that not only does your Kidd shoot sub MOA at 200 yards but so does your Bergara B14R and your Tikka T1X? As in consistently, not just a lucky group or two??

I have only been able to handle a Kidd but was very impressed by the trigger and workmanship.

Here are groups shot off my patio table, using a harris bipod, rear bag, and SK Standard Plus. 25 yard comparison, Vudoo on the right and CZ455 Tacticool on the left.

I moved out to 52 yards with the Vudoo. Bottom groups are the first, then I moved up and played with scope adjustments with the middle two groups, and the top 3 are the final groups.

The Cabelas Covenant scope that I have on it needs to be upgraded. I really like the reticle in it but it doesn't dial all that well and takes a couple shots to settle in.

I shoot 22's for fun and have never competed. My wife and I like to go out on a summer evening and relax by having a friendly competition. The thing I really like about the Vudoo is that the action doesn't feel like a 22LR. Super smooth and solid.

The question whether a Kidd build is more accurate than a Voodoo rifle assumes all Kidds shoot the same, and all Voodoos shoot the same. They don't.

I claim there are examples of each that will outshoot the other, and vice-versa. I also claim (IMHO) the individual barrel accounts for 90% or more of a guns accuracy and no two barrels are the same.

Tony Kidd has stated that heavier barrels may be more accurate as they oscillate less. However I have seen many pencil barrels outshoot heavy barrels. I'm asuming you'd put together a steel barreled Kidd in a stock that would hold weight constant.

One would think the nod at the end of the day should go to the bolt gun but no one has the means or desire to do a test.

Mostly because of the sample size required to do a meaningful test. And how to account for ammo, which preference varies with individual rifles?

The value of an accurate test is questionable as there is still risk. To wit: A meaningful test would measure and state, for example: We are XX% certain that a Voodoo will outshoot a Kidd XX% of the time.

If a proud owner tells you how accurate his is, ask him to sell it to you. Otherwise the result is meaningless.

As said, if you're comparing a Kidd to a Voodoo you probably need both. For the money, I'd pick Anschutz or Cooper. A Voodoo reminds me of a Chrysler 300 :)...Tom

I'd sure like to see this in real life repeatable groups. I jumped in both feet on the 22 PRS/NRL type shooting and I hear these claims all the time. To date I can't find anyone to show me a real life display.
Usually I hear 1 hole and 1/4 inch groups at 100, which frankly I find humurous. I'm going to be match director for our first club match of the season and one of my stages is going to be a 1" @ 100, 2" at 200 and 3" at 300. We will see how all of these guys do. I suspect a quite humbling outcome.

Jbell,
All 3 will shoot sub moa out to 200 yds. consistently under good condition. I have post many group pics on here and Sniper Hide. If the wind gets up, I will see groups string horizontally, 1" to 1.5" high. They are not lucky or cherry picked. I have shot 0.5" at 150yds and 1" at 200yds, but they are in the lucky and few groups. I shot a steel match out to 200yds last year, I came in first with the Tikka and second with the Kidd, ahead of 3 Vudoo's. At that range, it all about the ammo and the shooter knowing how to dope the wind. My guns like SK, Eley Club and Wolf.
