They said the 5000 will most likely do what i want but only saves me 70 bucks. Ugh....
Battle hawk has the ruger edition 5700 for like 320 last I checked.

I can't answer your question directly, but maybe my experiences lately will help in another way. I started shooting long range with a buddy who has the AB Android version and I have the AB IPhone version. They don't work the same!! I also have a Kestrel that has just basic weather info, wind, altitude/air pressure.
Once you get the rifle and bullet info loaded into the AB Calculator, you can start recording your hits into the Calculator (Ballistics Calibration). The app is looking for three inputs which would show where the bullet goes from supersonic, to trans-sonic, to subsonic. But to get started, you only need one input. It is best probably if it is a longer hit, but with a little field work, recording your hits, you can verify the that the app matches your rifle.
Another important part of the process is to set the wind strength and direction and then go to the Ballistics Calculator screen again and "run" and "apply" those values. Then the values should be correct for the conditions. The app defaults to 10 mph wind and picks up the wind direction from the weather station, I think (?), so setting the wind speed and direction are important.
I may not be explaining this well for you as I know I had a difficult time getting comfortable with it. There are videos on YouTube that help with set up and explained the practical way to do the calibration. I honestly wish there was a central place we could all go to discuss these matters, because it isn't very easy for some of us old guys, but the app is good once you get it working correctly.
